Directv Serial Control worked on win10 upgrade but not win10 reinstall

I upgraded my windows 7 system to windows 10 and the serial controls worked ok after the migration.

Some non-sage related stuff didnt work well after the upgrade so i decided to do a fresh install. After the fresh install the serial control of the directv box stopped working. The comm port changed and I addressed that however there was some errors in the log that basically said, 'we think the channel changed worked but we are not sure.' the channel changes didnt work, however I can tell that everything is basically hooked up okay because when i disconnect the cable going in to the box I do lose the message that indicates there was a nack.

I ended up spending the $15 for a serial card but has anyone else seen issues in windows 10?

It is really USB to serial on the directv side, but yet I guess the box is a good 5-6 years old.

I was going to try to use the IP controls but I didnt really understand how to set it up. I saw two threads on it setting it up and both had slight different instructions. The two instructions pointed to two differnt set of dlls. One set of instructions pointed to some batch files and one solution needed plug in.

Do you actually need a plug in to do the ip channel switching?

What is box model do you have ?.
You will need a Ethernet cable going to router or DirecTV Cinema Connection Kit and possable a DECA device.

I like Ericvic plug-in better.
But I no have DirecTV so I will not be able help with set it up.
