I started getting error messages a few days ago saying that the capture system was unable to connect to the file system. After several days of mucking about with three hard disks and the permissions for each, I have come to the conclusion that the "capture system" is the tuner. After mucking about with two different Hauppage devices and two different antennas, and two generations of WinTV (and an extra audio problem). I have found that:
- I can ignore the error messages when I go to set up a video source and work through to channel selection.
- Once there, the system cannot find any operating channels, even if I try to preview a channel.
- However, if I manually select channels, their schedules will show up on the Program tables
- and programs that I had previously marked for recording or as favorites still have those designation s
- the recordings will take place and can be viewed
- the odd buzzing sound that cropped up earlier has disappeared.
I think this problem is in part due to a Windows 10 update. Older versions apparently had privacy controls that interfered with tuners while trying to protect cameras. I don't have those privacy settings turned on, but I suspect there may be something similar not previously identified. I did, I think, roll back to the previous version of Win10, but have not tried to re-install Sage.
So my system is functional, albeit with a limited set of channels, but I'd really like to get it back to the way it was in the first part of last Thursday.
ANy advice will be appreciated.
