sage client won't find sagetv

I enabled server mode in detailed setup> advanced. I disabled my firewall on the server machine. I verified the ip address of the server in ipconfig, 192.168.0.2
I entered that when starting sage client but it won't find it.
it tells me to enable the server as above.
sage client 2.2 and sagetv 2.1 - can those 2 run together? or can I get client 2.1 somewhere? I don't want to mess with the PC 2.1 sage tv is on as it's a working pc not just for sage.
wired net connection. the client box is
P3 @500, 128 MB RAM. not getting errors that the specs are insufficient.

I'm pretty sure you have to have the same versions of Sage and Sage Client for the system to work properly. You may have to ask Frey for version 2.1 if you don't have a backup copy.
