Rescan Creating Duplicates - Not Removing Old Entries

Hello - I added a new hard drive and decided to change the drive letter and path and remove the old hard drive. The problem is the Rescan is not removing to old entries from the drive that is no longer in Sage (since I copied everything from the old hard drive to the new one). So, now there are duplicates of each video file. How can I remove those duplicates? Thank you.

Sage will never remove entries for shows if the drive it expects to find them on can't be found. This is by design (so things don't get messed up if a drive temporarily disappears, which can happen frequently with external disks and network shares). Sage doesn't know if you just temporarily unplugged the drive or if it is permanently gone.

You need to (temporarily) add a drive and give it the same drive letter as the drive you removed. This can even be a USB stick.

So for example, if your old files were stored in "f:\my videos", and you moved them to "g:\videos". The re-scan will pickup the files in the new location, but the old ones won't get removed unless Sage sees a drive labeled "f:" without the videos on it. This new "f" doesn't need to have any particular files or folders on it (so don't worry about re-creating the "my videos" folder in this example). Once Sage sees that the f:\ drive is there and that your videos aren't on it, their references will be deleted from Sage's database.

It is because SageTV won’t delete because it cannot see the missing drive/path
Can you map so it has the old drive/path being empty then do a rescan
Then you can undo the mapping
Other option is stop SageTV, update a setting in properties file (forget offhand which setting) then restart SageTV, rescan
Then stop SageTV, reset setting then start SageTV

Do I just need to add the drive letter or the paths as well?

Thank you again.

The setup, detailed setup, advanced, Rescan existing library files did not remove the entries. My wiz.bin is over 200mb. I added two flash drives for the old drives and even recreated the folders. I'm trying to remove duplicate Sage Recordings (not imported - the imported is fine). What can I do next?

Thanks,
Mike

Update: I got it to work. I put in the flash drives and then I stopped the Sage Service and restarted it and then did the Rescan and it worked. Thank you everyone for your help - works great now.

I think you just needed to wait. DB maintenance is run every 24 hours and I believe that is where the cleanup of removed files happens. Restarting may have reset that clock.

I see - I thought it would refresh when the rescan icon was no longer displayed and the rescan was completed. Either way - fixed.

Thanks,
