Duplicates Recording in V7.

Hi.

I have the lastest V7 on Win7-64bit.

I'm checking out SageTV because my previous PVR stopped supporting duplicate show removal. and I'm told that SageTV can not record shows that I've already seen. (Yes I know I'm starting the database again).

How do I set this up?

Not only does it re-record thing it schedules the same episodes multiple times on the same recording scheduling.

Help, Please.

Whether SageTV will record the same airing multiple times depends on the EPG data; see this FAQ:

Does SageTV know enough to record a show only once? I see that one of my favorites is scheduled to air 3 times this week -- How many of those will be recorded?

One more thing.... and I did read the faq this time.

I set a Favorite to record [Science] and like it should it recorded, "Sid the Science Kid". Now I've told it I "Don't Like" a bunch of episodes but how to I tell it not to record any "Sid the Science Kid". but still leave the [Science] favorite?

that would be a good fit for the Anti-favorites plugin, http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=48899. With it, you can leave the [science] favorite and set up an anti-favorite to mark any "Sid the Science Kid" that comes up on the schedule as "don't like" automatically.

Hello,

I can't remember the TV station ... (Peachtree???) but what they would do is start playing the next show in a small window in the credits of the last show.
(So they could show extra commercials)

When I cut the commercials from those episodes they were 'shorter' than normal.

I removed that station from the favorites list ...

What I noticed was that these shows would re-record at a later date ...

So what ended up happening was I re-recorded all those shows from another station without having to cut them artificially shorter.


In short if I hadn't watched a partial recording that was less than 20 minutes of 30 minutes ... it would re-record that unwatched episode.

So now I have better recordings of those shows ... although periodically I have to remove the original shorter recordings ...

I sure sounded like it. I installed it and created a new Exclude definition of

DL-TITLE-BEYOND OUR BORDERS

Even gave it a few days but no luck. The Exclude Logs keeps saying "No Shows Marked." (looks like it runs every hour) and yet. Beyond Our Borders is still in the "Recording Conflicts" screen and they are not marked "Don't Like".

Is there something else I need to do?

ok, that is one issue with the excluder, it only marks shows that are in the recording schedule. Items that aren't being recorded due to a confilict are not on the schedule, and don't get marked by the excluder.

I don't know if it is something that could be fixed, but it isn't a deal breaker for me if it doesn't. On my system, I'd estimate that it catches 90+% of the wanted exclusions and occasional needs a manual adjusment. The more tuners you have, the better your successful percentage will probably be.
