newer java working with Sagetv?

I am wondering if there are plans to adapt Sagetv to later java versions? In Linux with buster the default version is openjdk11.

https://www.oracle.com/technetwork/j...t-roadmap.html Mentions that jdk8 will only get updates until Dec 2020. Will our sagetv stop working after that? I am not comfortable using computer without security updates. Will Dec 2020 be the end of the line for Sagetv?

I can’t answer your question, but it would be a real shame if it did die. What are we, 10 years after the sell-out, and there’s STILL nothing that comes close as a well-rounded, DVR, playback/storage device. Plex is close, but not there yet...

It won't stop working just because there are no more updates. I'll probably just continue to run with jdk8 if a newer Sage isn't available. I'm more worried about all the possibly rogue IoT junk on my home network than new Java bugs on my DVR.

Also, I noticed this recently:

https://docs.aws.amazon.com/corretto...oads-list.html

"Amazon Corretto is a no-cost, multiplatform, production-ready distribution of the Open Java Development Kit (OpenJDK). Corretto comes with long-term support that will include performance enhancements and security fixes."

And: https://aws.amazon.com/corretto/faqs/

"Q: What is included in Corretto's long-term support?

A: Long-term support (LTS) for Corretto includes performance enhancements and security updates for Corretto 8 until at least June 2023 at no cost. Updates are planned to be released quarterly. Amazon will provide LTS for Corretto 11 with quarterly updates until at least August 2024."

So that might be an option if you want to make sure you have security updates.
