Sidebar Gadget

Is the Sidebar gadget no longer available? I know, I have Windows 10 but, if not available, I will miss it very much.

I've been using this with Win 7 and SageTV V9 open source:

I can't confirm that it will work with Win 10 for sure, but seems like it should.

I am still using the sidebar gadget on Windows 8/10 (couple different machines)

Look for 8gadgetpack to get sidebar working on later versions of Windows and it will work with all the old gadgets.

I tried to take a look at Rainmeter but never could figure out how to get what I wanted. I'm a pretty basic desktop guy, single color. All I wanted was the SageTV "skin" for RainMeter but every time I tried to look for something in RainMeter all I ever found were these conglomerations which all had to include these atrociously horrible looking desktops. I gave up almost before I started it was so depressing. (to me)

Yes, that works on both Windows 8 & Windows 10. I just need the SageTV Gadget.

I thought they made it downloadable from the Sage web server, but I will attach it here. Note I haven't used it in years so don't know if it still works.

I am unsure what the "Sage web server" is so you may need to help with that also. Anyway, under SETUP>SAGETV PLUGINS is listed Windows Sidebar/Desktop Gadget Support by cncb. I have it installed but other than the listing telling me it is installed there is no evidence of any other action taken.

In any event, if it was compatible with the earlier versions of Windows it should work with Windows 10. I installed it on a Windows Vista machine many years ago (and used it daily) and have forgotten how to install it. How do I do that from this .zip file? (I have extracted the files but am lost.)

See the install instructions on the gadget forum thread you posted a link to. Basically, you just rename the file removing the .zip and double-click the .gadget file (although I don't know if this will work with the third-party gadget "app" you are using and won't be able to help with this).

Perfect!! It works as expected. I now have the SageTV gadget on my desktop. Thank you very much.
