Hauppauge Cordcutter OTA box

Does anyone else have one? It seems, unlike the subscription-based DVR (aka annual fees) of the HDHomerun units, the Hauppauge Cordcutter’s recording app is FREE for Android and iOS users.

That being the case, how would one implement it with a regular installation of SageTV Server so that it showed up as a tuner with lineups from Schedules Direct, as do the HDHomerun products - is that something which would need to be added to the Sage, open source code?

You do know that SageTV doesn't need or req the internet to work with ATSC Tuner it can pull EPG off Local TV station broadcast grant it only 24 to 36 hour of data depend on the TV provider in your local area, but that all going to change with ATSC 3.0 with a min of 7 days EPG

So with current ATSC, Sage doesn’t need listings (granted, two days worth only) from Schedules Direct to set up a recording of an ATSC tuning device?

That right just pop in a compatible ATSC Tuner and Schedules Direct is not needed unless you want the 14 days of program guide data which helpful when add new show that are looking to add to the fav or have write down the dates and time of the new show airing or check daily here
http://www.metacritic.com/feature/tv-premiere-dates
or Google TV Premiere Dates

Schedules Direct main purpose is for Cable (Analog/Digital) and Satellite (Analog/Digital) when there no are no other way to pull EPG from those service like with ATSC.

Cordcutter TV as always been able to record to USB flash even to reg harddrive as long it's a self powered and only up to 2TB (that sinks) tvmaster2, as for mapping network drive no I don't see that happing at all.
In tell Hauppauge get it few major show stopping bugs that need to be fix so it not very useful.

But if want some better here a few idea
1st option
Intel NUC BOXNUC7PJYH1 Best part you also get Hardware Transcoder
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB Ram
128GB 2.5 SSD as boot drive you can go with reg drive but you can only go up 2TB due to drive thickness which has to be under 9.5mm on NUC
Get any size portable external hard drive you want in USB 3.0 or maybe NAS mapping network drive
1 to 2 Hauppauge DualHD Tuner

2nd option you could even build you own
ASRock J5005-ITX has Hardware Transcoder and one PCIe slot
Hauppauge Quad-HD ATSC Tuner
G.SKILL DDR4 2400 Ripjaws Series 8GB Ram
ARK WT02 Black Mini ITX Server Case with 250W Power Supply
ToughArmor MB607SP-B Rugged Full Metal 4 Bay 2.5" SATA HDD & SSD Backplane Cage for External 5.25" Bay
The reason for the Icy dock is because it only that can except 15mm thick drive in one 5.25 bay and you easy add 3TB, 4TB all way to 5TB drive

Now as for OS you have lots of option each have there up and downs
Linux: MythTV, Plex (HA) or SageTV
Windows: Emby (HA), MediaPortal, NextPVR, Plex (HA) or SageTV

HA = Hardware Acceleration for Quick Sync Video which is useful for transcoding to Phone and Tablet even some Media Player that can't do direct play

Both the Hauppauge Quad-HD and HDHomeRun Connect Quatro are out standing product but the Quatro more 3rdparty support but useless as it can't pull EPG off Local TV station broadcast like the Quad-HD can depend on the software you have like SageTV, NextPVR and MythTV.
The Hauppauge Cordcutter OTA box with it own app dose pull the EPG but I never had much luck with this device.
