Hauppauge PVR 250
Can anybody help me? I tried to get this to work. I installed the trial version of SageTV and I cannot get the video to work for nothing. Just a black screen. Everything else works, including the Guide and Audio. Any suggestions? Thanks.

what is your input to the cap card? Is it cable tv, broadcast, svid from an stb, etc.

So, because of the audio being heard: video os playing, but you just aren't seeing anything?
It might help to know what your video renderer & decoder settings are in Detailed Setup, whether 3D Acceleration is enabled, what your video card is, and whether you are trying to use something like clone mode w/your video card to see SageTV on your monitor & TV at the same time. - Andy

Strange. Now the video nor audio started. So I deleted the source and started over. Then it gave me this error: Playback:Excepton: ERROR (-4, 0x80040111) after trying to scan for channels. So now I think it has to do with the codecs. I have been able to watch TV with different programs in the past, so I know it should be able to work. Maybe its the codecs that came with the TV Tuner are bad perhaps? Or is it possible there could be a conflict with the codecs? I am connecting with just an ordinary cable cord to the tv tuner and then a audio cord that goes to my Line In.

The 250 records the audio & video together, so if you are using a coax cable into the 250, that is all you need. If you are using svideo-in, then the audio-in also goes to the 250.
There should be no other line in connection to your sound card, for example. BTW: it sounds like you need to change the video and/or audio playback settings in Detailed Setup. - Andy

Darkleno, I had similar problems when first setting up sage against my pvr-250. The drivers shipped with the Hauppauge card are not optimal, although they work with the wintv software bundled with it ok. Check out the updated drivers here:
http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/suppo...vr250-350.html Also, I found it useful to install DVD playback software on my PVR box to apply additional Mpeg decoders that sage can leverage. As Opus said, from the main menu go to 'Setup' - 'Detailed Setup' - 'Video' and try overlay vs vmr9 as well as try different Mpeg decoders one at a time. Variations in machine hardware make choosing the right settings a little hit and miss. |
