sage recording conversion for use in emby

Hi,

I have a ton of old sagetv recordings, and more are created every day.

When I link emby to a sage directory, the meta data is not read. Is there a way to rename the sage recordings so that emby can read the name, tell what it is and then download the metadata for it?

Or... something that works like that?

Also, can I run some plug in within sage to process all the recordings and cut out all the commercials?

Any help is appreciated.

Try installing the Batch Meta Data plugin which gives you the ability to edit a recording's meta data. Also the Comskip plugin will help in commercial detection.

Go to your detailed settings and set "Include season and episode number in filenames" and "Include episode names in filenames" to "Yes". Then stop your SageTV service. Edit your Sage.properties file and set extended_filenames=true. Then start your SageTV service back up. Any future recordings will be in the format "<show name> - SxxExx - <episode name>".

Note that this doesn't work to make things look nice in Emby or at least last time I tried. It needs things in folders if I recall. The only solution I found was to rename / move things. I mean you can browse and watch, but the files are not organized by show or anything without a folder structure. I never got around to trying to automate renaming though e.g.with SJQ, but there are some scripts on here that will do that. Also there is a stand-alone renamer somewhere on here.

It seems like a scraper could be made in Emby to support SageTV naming, or I also thought about putting a request in to support name templates in SageTV.

Anyway, I looked at it a bit a while ago, but never automated a solution. PLEX on the other hand works fine if you set the flags Taddeusz mentioned. While I prefer Emby, it had some playback issues on some devices.

Try MCEBuddy. Works for me.

I use it to monitor and process recordings in the Sage (and Playon) recording directories to
  • Remove commercials
  • Rename and sort by video info
  • Organize by seasons
  • Extract closed captions and subtitles (if Sage recorded them, which it doesn't)
  • Download metadata
  • Save to folder structure compatible with emby

You all do know that Emby now support the Hauppauge DVB/ATSC Tuner card now that about far I gotten with them how ever you do need WinTV 8 install.
There even some support for HD-PVR 2 and Colossus 2 but so far they haven't address any IR Blaster support which is one of the main things that we needed even with HDMI IPTV Encoders.
