I am having SD EPG update issue as well unfortunately.
I'm running SageTV 9.1.7.757 if that matters.
Attached is my sagetv_0 log file.
I see a handshake error in it and if go into Setup Video Sources and try to re-select my SD line up it gives me an error about communicating with the server.
Nothing has changed on this server other than Window updates, I turned off the firewall but that didn't fix the issue.
I'm not sure when it stopped working but my guide turns to no data on Friday so I'm kind of worried about it.
Any one have any ideas what my issue might be?
Thanks.
Brad

Unfortunately the error is very vague. From what I can find on the internet about this exception it makes me think your computer might not have current root CA's, but that's just a wild guess.

I ran across this post which suggests enabling the switch Djavax.net.debug=all, but I'm not sure where we would need to use that for the Windows version of SageTV. If someone knows off hand, please reply. Hopefully we can expand the logging without needing to compile the service executable.

You can always add 'global' Java options in the enviroment variable JAVA_OPTIONS. Set it to "-Djavax.net.debug=all".

I reached out to SD as well thinking it might be an issue on their end, but they replied that it wasn't. I checked it and it is working now, so I am not sure what caused the issue nor what fixed it.
What is odd is that the error message changed from the handshake failure to connection timed out. Since it's working now I guess I will chalk it up to ISP issue.
If it happens again I'll enable that extra debugging option in Java.
Thanks for everyone's assistance.

I've been having EPG issues off and on for quite some time. I am on V9.1.2 and sometimes it works and sometimes it hangs up. Sometimes a simple restart of SageTV will fix it, sometimes it takes a reboot of the PC and once I had to reenter my SD log-in credentials. When it hangs I find many (a hundred +?) entries similar to this:

Mon 10/30 15:24:43.512 [EPG@11277b4] ERROR Could not resolve aliased person back to original person id=252XXX name=(Name Deleted)

Each entry has a different person id and a different name. I don't know if this is related, but I thought maybe it would help. I've learned to live with it and use it as an opportunity to back up my SageTV files (wiz.bin and properties) and to periodically reboot the server.

Those alias warnings aren't important but nevertheless have been removed in later versions. There have been a few null pointer bugs fixed in the SD EPG code. You should consider updating to the latest version if you're having issues.

I'm getting many "No Data" entries in my EPG. I've updated to the latest Windows build and that didn't help. In the system status the "timeto next epg update" line has said 0 for 24 hours.

Logfile attached.

Are the No Data entries for today or later in the week? SD EPG will only correct for those when they are the current timeslot. If you want to refresh all of the guide data, you can just delete sdmd5sched and trigger another EPG update. Also if you wouldn't mind uploading it first, that might help me figure out what happened.

Edit: The log you posted didn't show any errors. It just showed that an update started and stopped.

The No Data entries are for today and in the future. The problem seems to be only for some channels, some channels have all of their data, others have none. It's all or nothing for a channel.

I'll upload the sdmd5sched file then delete it and force a refresh to see what happens.

Thanks for the support.

The problem is not with Sage, it's with Schedules Direct. The channels are missing from the lineup
