HDHR-US Channel Scan Not Working on SageTV v9

I've been an avid user of SageTV for years. I cut the cable tv cord over ten years ago, and Sage has been SO GOOD I haven't had to touch it until this month when I started wondering why shows weren't recording anymore. Well you know where that led me.

I now have SageTV v9 installed on a windows 7 machine. Problem is, when I scan for channels, none are found. I know the old HDHR-US is still working, if I connect to it with any other TV software, I get all the channels I expect. Also, my old Sage setup (v6.X) still works perfectly, minus the schedules.

Any ideas?

Update

Still have the problem after trying a couple things, so here's an update. I tried a different 5V power supply for the HDHR-US, but that didn't make any difference to the channel scan issue. It may however have improved reception - I was never able to get REV'N before! Bonus!

I also updated the HDHomeRun software, which brought my firmware up to 20161117 from 20150406. I notice that it did not install the troubled 20161119, so that's good. No difference in channel scan, though.

I know longer use my HDHR-US so I'm doing this from memory. Did you verify the BDA compatibility mode is set to SageTV in the HDHR setup?

That, and also make sure each tuner is set to OTA in the same app.

Thanks trk2 and texneus, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. In the HDHR Setup, both tuners are set to Digital Antenna in the Source Type column on the Configuration tab.

BDA compatibility mode doesn't show a SageTV listing. The choices are:

Default
Easy HDTV DVR
For The Record
J River Media Center
MediaPortal
NextPVR
Windows Media Center

It's currently set to default. I guess I could go through and try them all, there's not that many.

If I recall, the HDHR setup does some sort of detection to see if Sage is installed before adding that option to the list. I'm guessing you installed the HDHR software before installing Sage. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the HDHR software not that sage is installed, and see if SageTV shows up as an option.

Thanks, Fuzzy! That was it - I uninstalled and reinstalled HDHR with SageTV9 in place and the channel scan was successful! Even the old SageTV6x still finds channels so all is good in SageTV Land.

After having such good luck with Sage, I needed to fix my Windows Media Center. Couldn't get any channels, so I switched the BDA compatibility mode to Windows Media Center, and turned on Background Channel Scan. This worked, and while in this state I can still use SageTV. Looks like everything is good again!

Thanks so much everyone for your help!
