How To Set Up Hauppauge Remote

Trying to set up my basement man cave, and having remote control of my SageTV system is required. The Hauppauge HVR-1600 capture card is installed and working. The IR receiver is plugged in. The Hauppauge remote has fresh batteries. But nothing happens when I try to link an IR code with a SageTV command. There is no IR.exe process running, and it's likely the clue to the problem. Spent about 30 minutes searching on Google without any luck. Installed the Hauppauge WinTV version 6 application, hoping this would get the remote working. No luck again. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

EDIT: I just saw the sticky. Doh! I'll see if it solve my problem, so let's just put this on hold for now.

EDIT #2: The sticky didn't work. Got this error message, Failed to Initialize IR Remote Hardware. Maybe I need a more recent IR installation file. I did remove two of my capture cards, thinking having 3 might confuse things, but it didn't make a difference.
