Favorites will not be recorded after 7-30-17 apparently

Is anyone else seeing this issue?

I recently updated successfully from SageTV V7 to SageTV V9 (SW Ver.9.1.5.683) and signed up for Schedules Direct's one-year subscription. Since June 30 all my "Favorites" have been recording with no problem and these Favorites show up in the Program Guide with the F tag next to them through 7-30-17. However, none of my Favorites are tagged after 7-30-17 and it appears they will not be recorded.

I sent a detailed explanation to Schedules Direct "Link Support" giving examples of the Favorites that are working now but apparently will stop on 7-31-17 and beyond. I received the following email back from Robert Kulagowski at Schedules Direct:

"I'd need to know what is being used by SageTV to put the Favorites icon onscreen. Can you have the SageTV developer contact me at rkulagow@gmail.com so that we can go through the raw data?

> Here are examples of shows that will record through Sept. 30 but it
> appears they will not be recorded on or after 7-31-17:
>
> "Superhuman" on Fox, Monday nights, 8 pm CDT. The Favorite symbol is
> next to this program for 7-17-17 and 7-24-17 but not 7-31-17.

Much simpler if you told me that your local Fox affiliate is "KDFW-DT / stationID 19616"

But first things first - I need a dev to get in touch with me"
---------------------

Can anyone give us a hand here? Thanks in advance.

Love SageTV. Had it since Oct. 2010 and had very few problems. Narflex created an awesome product.

The default number of days to schedule recordings is 14 days and the old max allowed was 14 days. The STV has been modified to allow up to 21 days.

This is independent of the guide data you see and used to exceed it by a day or two.

Change this setting under Setup|Detailed Setup|Customize|Number of Days to Schedule Recordings

Thanks wnjj.

Worked like a champ wnjj. I changed the setting to 21 days as you instructed, put SageTV on standby then rebooted the PC and launched SageTV. All the Favorites are showing they'll be recorded in the 21 day schedule displayed. Appreciate the help.

I have my setting to the default 14 days, and I just upgraded to v9, and imported my old wiz.bin. It has all 36 of my favorites listed in favorites manager. And one is definitely airing tonight, a first run even.

Yet, nothing is showing in the scheduled recordings except a "M" manual recording I chose later tonight to see if anything would record.

My guide is full. The programs are there. The favorites listing is there, and even if I click on a favorite and click on 'future airings', it shows the ones that are coming up (including tonights).

However... its not marked with a "F", and its not listed under "Recording Schedule". It doesnt even mention it in the "Next 48 hrs:" tag on the bottom of the screen.

Am I missing something?

This should correct itself, but if you want to speed things up restarting SageTV should be the fastest way to speed it up. If they don't come back after waiting or a restart, you will want to post your sagetv_0.txt log file.

Thank you. I waited, and you were right... it did clear itself up. I guess I was just being impatient

It also successfully recorded that america's got no talent last night, as well as the manual recording (was testing it scheduling two things at once for my dual-tv card).

That list now shows a couple weeks worth of favorites lined up too. Nice.

When I go there, it allows only entries between 1-14. When I enter 21, it simply closes the entry screen.

System Information shows Software Version as 9.1.5.683.

However, this is confusing: Base STV File: SageTV7.xml (Version 9.0.12.2 March 10, 2012, Name: SageTV7)

What do I have wrong?

Just like the guy in this post, https://forums.sagetv.com/forums/sho...&postcount=419, the installer seems to have either left your old one in place or installed an old one.

Did you run the installer a second time and choose 'repair'. Repair is supposed to force more files to update in the event that they weren't detected as needing a change during the install. If you've done that and still have the problem, you can always get the correct STV from the link in that post.

I tried both with no joy. The Link directed me to SAGETV7.xml and "download" opened the file in IE. I saved as "SageTV7.xml." I, then, went to "C:\Program Files\SageTV\SageTVs\SageTV7" and changed SageTV7.xml to SageTV.xml-OLD (just in case <chuckle>) and copied the downloaded file into the directory. This did not solve the issue.

I, then, did the "repair" install and, after a reboot, the inability to set the recording schedule for greater than 14 days remains the same.

I am not particularly concerned since 14 days is acceptable (although more would be nice). I am concerned, however, that there may be other issues that I should be checking on.

Something is causing you both to have an old STV to load. As suggested in the other thread, maybe a plugin? You both have this March 10 version. The other user said he had a SageTV7.xml.2012031001 which seems to what's loading on his. Do you have the same?

Apparently: Current STV File set version 2012031001, MD5 Prefix, Dc0f98

I also am using Java 1.7.0-65. I bring this up because I keep getting popups telling me to update. I have ignored those requests for a couple years because updating has always disabled SageTV and I had to revert back.

Okay, I will try that the next time it "pops" up... unless you are suggesting that it is, in fact, related to the recording schedule issue.

Can you manually navigate to the known good STV file in the Sage GUI? Setup|Detailed Setup|Advanced|Set Full UI Package.

My STV file is 13,534,003 bytes when viewed in Windows Explorer properties. It shows up as May 21, 2017 and file set 2017052101, prefix f3b952

I have "Gemstone.xml" listed there.

My STV7.xml file is dated 6/17/2017 9:36pm and is, also, 13,534,003 bytes.

The Gemstone.xml file is 1/5/2017 7:17pm and 18,182,253 bytes.

That must be what's causing things to get hosed up. I've never used Gemstone so I don't know how it works (adds on to or replaces the default STV?)

You can always try uninstalling it and reverting back to the latest stock V9/V7 STV before installing again, if desired.

I will try that tomorrow... SageTV is in use right now and I will be yelled at if I mess with it. <chuckle>

No need to uninstall Gemstone. You just need to exit it (choose 'revert' on that same screen to load up SageTV7.xml.

Gemstone is a completely separate STV, that is built off of the core STV. The current Gemstone release IS built of the 9.0.12.2 STV file. I was confused when you listed 'Base STV', and totally forgot to even ask if that was in Gemstone. You can do all your config and such, and then Load Gemstone UI from the main menu when you are done to get back into it.

This is one the quirks with how gemstone was built. It wasn't as much an issue when gemstone was being developed, because changes to gemstone were coming a LOT more often than changes to the base STV. I don't know if JusJoken is up to pushing out an updated release of Gemstone or not. He did for the sdepg changes, but that was a special case.

Thanks for the explanation.

I've had Sage for years but honestly all the talk about Gemstone, Diamond, etc. always went over my head so I didn't know what was involved technically. I never spent the time to understand it.

Now that this whole thing is open source, I'm enjoying the learning and poking through the code when others have issues. I tell my wife it's so I can fix anything that may go wrong with our setup.
