Migrating from a single RecordedTV share to that same share plus a local drive?

I recently moved from 3 local drives (RecordedTV1, RecordedTV2, and RecordedTV3) to a single share on my NAS box (RecordedTV).

I used Opus4's advanced_video-file-recovery=True method and it worked a-ok.

But it is starting to look like I mis-judged the space and the NAS box is getting a little tight.

Suppose I want to take just *some* of the RecordedTV from the NAS share and move it to, say, a 3-tb local drive on the Sage server?

Will the same approach work:
  • Kill SageTV
    .
  • Add the local drive, call it R:
    .
  • Move some of the recordings from \\NAS\RecordedTV to R:\RecordedTV2
    .
  • Edit SageTv.properties to include the new R: path in the seeker/video_storage= paths.
    .
  • Edit SageTv.properties so that advanced_vide_file_recovery=true
    .
  • Re-start SageTV and let it run for awhile
    .
  • Kill SageTV, set...recovery=False, re-start SageTV.

*Seems* like it should work - but my RecordedTV (Hey, it's just television....) is not backed up and I would rather not lose it...

You likely don't need to go through all that. Honestly, all you'd really have to do is add the new location as a recording folder in sage, and it will start recording to there. As you delete items, and space frees up on the NAS location, sage will record to there as well.

If, for some reason, you DO want to move some of the current recording to the new folder, all you have to do is move the files, and tell sage to rescan. No properties changes required, no shutting down of sagetv, etc. Just either wait for sage's periodic scan, or go to Setup -> Scan.
