HD Homerun OTA: "No video capture devices were found...

I think I've jumped from the frying pan into the fire on this one.

Sage was seeing my HD HomeRuns awhile ago... And I was even able to delete them and then re-add them specifying my SchedulesDirect ID/PW - but, although the Program Guide looked good, I kept getting "No Signal" when trying to tune a channel.

Then I started groping around to resolve the "No Signal" problem..... and I must've done something bad because now Sage does not even see the tuners for me to set up.

• HD HomeRun Setup sees them
  .
• HD HomeRun Config GUI will render a video stream if I tell it to "View" a channel...
  .
• NetScan sees them
  .
• they are pingable.

But Sage is not seeing them.

Ran a full channel scan on each tuner, re-booted a couple times, but no-go.

I cannot channel-scan the tuners in SageTV because I cannot add the tuners to Sage bc Sage says there are none to add.

Do you use the Sage service? The HDHR service must up and running before the Sage service starts. A quick way to see if sequencing is the problem: verify that the HDHR service is running, then manually (re)start the Sage service. If Sage now sees the tuners, you've identified the likely cause.

There is no HDHR service, if he's accessing them directly from Sage (as opposed to using OpenDCT).

I'm looking at SageTVmsgs.log and it's looking to me like there's an issue with my lineup name, but the forum keeps saying "Invalid File" when I try to upload it.

The forum SW says it's too long as-is to paste, so here's a snip from near the end that seems to say something ab out an EPG name issue - but that would seem moot in light of Sage not having any tuners added and not seeing any to add.

Thanks for the correction... I was thinking of the SageDCT / OpenDCT service which has to be started prior to the Sage service. Although the HDHR service does exist, it isn't required for Sage.

Yeah - the name on my SchedulesDirect.org account page is "Local Broadcast Listings - Antenna (19301)".

But the Sage UI says there are no tuners - period....

Maybe I will try deleting that part of the props file and see if it helps.

Like Fuzzy suggested, sagetv_0.txt would give us the best picture of what might be happening. If this is Windows and it sounds like it is, SageTV uses the HDHomeRun BDA driver to talk to the HDHomeRun's, so it's no different to SageTV from a PCIe card in your computer and it doesn't treat them any different. SageTV has no knowledge of it being a accessed over the network; it just knows it's a BDA capture device. My only guess without see a log would be that the HDHomeRun software isn't set to SageTV and the drivers are in a mode that SageTV can't work with.

No-go. I killed the service, deleted everything that started with mmc/encoders/, and re-started - but no change.

Any idea how SageTV detects those tuners? .... I am starting to wonder about some IP address thing..... OTOH, it was finding them with no problem before this issue surfaced.

Zip the log file up and attack the zip file. log files compress very well, and can easily be attached then.

It looks like an issue with the HDHomeRun's directshow drivers. Sage is detecting the devices, but then when it goes to check the devices capabilities, it is returning that the device doesn't exist. I don't know what all you've tried, but it might be worth uninstalling the SiliconDust software and drivers, rebooting, and reinstalling them, and see if that changes.

We have a winner!!!

I went into HDHomeRun Setup | Advanced | Support | Repair/Reinstall Windows components and clicked "Repair" - after which SageTV recognized the tuners.

Re-added all 4 of my tuners and we are back in business.

Whew!!!!
