Hauppauge HVR-2250 stopped tuning?

Hi All,

I've been using Sage for ages, and really don't want to part from it. But, the other day (4/26/17) something changed. Not sure if Windows Updates installed a new tuner driver or what, but Sage refused to tune any channels. No Signal on everything.

I re-ran a channel scan, thinking maybe my cable company did something. It didn't pick up a single channel. No modifications, no new channels. Nada.

Checked the cable connection, works fine with my TV. ClearQAM channels like crazy (400+, about 130 unencrypted).

I was using Sage 7, so I figured it's time to upgrade. Installed Sage 9, tried doing a new scan. Nothing.

Tried WinTV7 which came with the tuner card. Oddly, it found nothing either. Installed WinTV8 from the Hauppauge website, and it found all the proper channels. I think it did a driver update as part of its install.

Went back to Sage 9, and tried another scan. Still Nothing. Backed up my existing sage folder, and uninstalled sage. Reinstalled from scratch, and started with a bare system. Did another scan, and it found... nothing.

Ironically, my other PC that records for a friend on 2 HDHR boxes works perfectly. Outside of buying a new HDHR box, I can't seem to get sage to tune any longer on my HVR-2250 card. Anyone else with this tuner card still able to get it to work? Current driver ver is 7.9.1.34313, under Win 7 x64.

After messing with this problem over the past week, I did another channel scan while typing the above post. Now I get channels. Nothing changed since it didn't work, and I haven't even turned off or rebooted the PC. Odd.

Problem resolved... for now.

Fix

I found that if I booted up with a tuner in record mode it often would be locked up. My solution: look in Home->Setup->System Information Scroll down and see what tuner is recording. Now goto Home->setup->Setup Video Sources-> Video source that was recording->channel setup->channel that you were recording->Preview this channel. Cancel the current recording and preview. Now the channel should go to 100% and you should be good to go on that tuner. I have just let it go to see what happens and most times it will clear up after the time it was set to record. Occasionally I found a tuner locked up that never showed. To check, just record something on every tuner and verify that you have signal. If you don't just go through the above procedure for that tuner.

Tuner preroll plugin used to solve this on v7 it does not seem to work on v9.

Me too

Hi Jdezur, I have exactly the same issue, except mine has not come back! Happily using STV 9 (upgraded some time ago). It was working fine until a short time ago. I have deleted and re-added the video sources and no luck. Any further Ideas on what casued this?
The Hauppage 2200 works fine with a trial copy of Blaze so its definitely a SAGETV issue.
I suspect some windows update has blown Sage out of the water, but dont know whether ist Windows patches or JAVA which is the problem, they both seem to have an update every other day.

Hmm I would have downloaded WinTV however my tuner cards did not come with a license....?
Windows reports I have the latest drivers

This seems to be the same issue i am having with my HVR-1600 atsc card after i upgraded to windows 10. I can't install winTV to test it outsiide of SageTV since i can't find my old install disk and Happauge insists it needs to be in the cd player before upgrading. argh!
