HVR-2250 OTA Tuning Problems
I am trying to test going from cable to OTA this weekend. I have two computers, each has a WinTV-HVR-2250 that I have been using for about 9 years now without a problem on cable. I removed all the sources and then rebooted just for good measure. I added each source back in using the DTV tuner setting and the local digital broadcast program source. I then rebooted again before doing a channel scan. When I did the scan it found no channels. I have the cable split into my TV so I did a scan on it and it found 82 channels and I could watch them. I cannot figure out why the HVR-2250 is not finding any channels. When I try to preview it tells me there is an error with the capture device but it was working fine this morning on cable. Also, when I look at the tuner settings it say the broadcast setting is QAM NET. I guess I thought I would see ATSC. Also, when it scans the channels it only goes up to 69 but one of my channels is logical 3-1 but physically 74-3-1. I am running Sage V7 right now on Windows 7 Professional. I did not want to change too many things at once unless I am better off going to the new Sage version. I am lost, anyone have some ideas for me? Thank you very much.

Yes, Sage should report ATSC (not QAM; that's the cable standard). It's reasonable to see logical 3-1 associated with physical 74-3-1.
Have you tried doing a channel scan using Hauppauge's WinTv app? That'll remove Sage from the equation. (It's ok to have Sage & WinTv installed at the same time). Could be something as simple as connecting the coax to the wrong F-connector on the tuner? ATSC and QAM use the same input connector; the 2nd F-connector is for the FM tuner. Sage 7 and the HVR2250 with OTA ordinarily "just works" on Win7 without jumping thru any hoops. I have 2 such systems that have run without issue for over 5 years.

Well, I have no idea what is going on but when I scan the channels it tells me it can find no tunable channels. But when I actually go to the channels I can get them. Also had issues with the program guide. When on cable I set it up so that the digital tuner channel list was the local digital broadcast program. When I tried to reset up for OTA it asked if I wanted a new program guide and I said yes but I still got the old OTA channel list with all the odd ball places Cox stuffed other digital channels. I had to change my zipcode to get it to load a fresh copy for my area. Luckily there are lots of Phoenix zipcodes. So, at this point its working again but channel scanning does me no good. Thanks for you input.
