Item in recording conflicts causes Sage to crash
I have been happily using Sage for many years. Lately though, the software seems to be getting senile. A couple of major problems and a minor problem have cropped up. This thread is about a Timed Recording showing up in Recording Conflicts that causes Sage 7.1.9 to hang when I try to get rid of the conflict.
The timed recording was initially set up for channel 34 (I think). I disabled this channel after I determined that it was causing Sage to crash completely when I would step through the program guide sampling what was on air. Disabling channel 34 eliminated the crash problem when stepping though the channels. I forgot about the pending timed recording and now have the recording conflict issue. The timed recording is in actuality not conflicting with anything else. How can I get rid of the timed recording? I am running Sage on Windows XP Professional 32-bit SP3. Thanks, Steve |

Do you see it in "Recording Conflicts"? If so you can do an info button on it to bring up detailed info on the show. Now press select and select the "Record Options" where you should be able to remove the favorite or stop the manual recording. If that isn't available then you might have to re-enable the channel temporarily so that it shows up in the recording schedule where you can just press delete button to delete the recording. Then just disable your channel again.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, selecting the info button on the Recording Conflicts screen (or any anything on the screen) causes Sage to jump back to the top home screen without any of the selection items on the left and Sage freezes.
I enabled all of the channels to pick up the channel that had caused problems and the recording conflict problem persists. This probably failed because the recording time was for a few weeks ago. The Timed Recording does not show up anywhere besides the Recording Conflicts screen. I have also found that I cannot record a show from the Program Guide screen. I can watch a show live, but I can't record it or record anything in the future from the Program Guide screen. The items in the Favorites list still record though. I now think the problem started when I tried to do a timed recording on a channel that only showed "No Data" for all time slots. I set up the recording and later found that several channel IDs were incorrect which caused the "No Data" info. I corrected the IDs after setting up the timed recording. I guess Sage didn't know what to do when there was no channel with the original, incorrect ID. Is the timed recording data stored in Wiz.bin? If so, is there anyway to edit the timed recording info out? I turned on logging and restarted Sage. I crashed the system by going to the Conflicts screen and trying to look at info for the timed recording. What should the log be called? I saw a couple of log files from the right time with "mod" in the name. Doesn't sound like the right file though. Last edited by SteveP; 03-18-2017 at 02:29 AM. |

The SageTV server log files have names:
sagetv_0.txt, sagetv_1.txt, sagetv_2.txt, etc... That is assuming you have debug logging turned on in the properties. If all else fails and you can't fix it and nobody here is able to help you fix it you can start over again by deleting the Wiz.bin. That would remove all favorites and watched history in addition to the recording schedule. But I ended up doing this when I had really huge wiz.bin's and I didn't have the time available to research get help and implement a better solution.

Thanks for the response.
I just crashed Sage by going to the Conflicts screen. I have a log file that is about 1.3 MB. How should I present the data here? I found a reference while doing a search about exporting Wiz.bin to XML and being able to select what to retain before importing the data into an empty Wiz.bin. This sounds interesting but will it work with Sage 7.1.9? If so, how do I do this? If not possible, I'll just start with a blank wiz.bin. Last edited by SteveP; 03-18-2017 at 09:39 AM. |

If the export is what I think it is then you just need to setup the Web server plugin in 7.1.9 to do the export and import. That is how I kept my favorites.

Where do I find the Web Server? I looked in the STVi and Plugins download areas and didn't find anything.
Thanks, Steve |

Conflict problem solved!
I used the Mobile Web Interface 2.0 that I already had installed to look at the recording conflict that was causing the problem. The web interface showed the conflict with 0 conflicts. I resolved the phantom conflict with the web interface and the system didn't crash. It just got rid of the conflict. Everything works fine again. There's no conflict indication and I can record from the program guide again. YEA! |

Bob, you did help. I also need one more thing. Where do I find the webserver you talked about? It could be helpful in the future if I need to export/import the wiz.bin. The web access plugin I have does not show an export/import feature.
Thanks, Steve |

Plugins, under the General tab, look for SageTV Web Interface

Thanks! I had been going to the web site download page to look for the webserver plugin. I never thought to look in Setup for plugins.
