Used HDPVR's in the ebays

I'm looking to add an HDPVR to my setup - looking on eBay I see a couple of different variations on the HDPVR that i'm familiar with.

The one I have currently that has been working pretty much forever is a 'silver top'. Not sure what these dark grey tops are - are they older? Newer?

Is that not just different lighting in the image? The top picture being a stock photo.

It could be lighting - but it's happened to a lot of people selling them if that's the case...

IF you think that might be using this with Linux... you might want to stick with the 1212.

If you are not going to connect it with linux then it doesn't matter

I pulled the trigger on a 'dark' grey top ($27)- sure enough it's dark grey instead of silver. Haven't hooked it up yet, but it says it's revision F2 where my existing one is revision E something. So maybe they went to the darker plastic as the product aged...

Hopefully it works.

I may be buying one from the ebays myself to replace one I accidentally over-voltaged and smoked.

Did you wind up having any issues with the dark grey one?

The one I got won't power on. So I don't really know if the grey ones are any good.

Bummer.

I opened mine up and saw one burned component, so I'm going to try and fix it. Nothing to lose at this point.
