HDPVR RMA

Has anyone from Canada RMA'd an HDPVR?

Pretty sure mine died last night as all Windows will say is that a USB device has malfunctioned and it only detects it as an unrecognized device.

Just wondering if the cross shipping option is available to Canadians and approximatley how long the process takes.

I'm going to get twitchy without my HD and I want it working again before I go on vacation and need to record all my shows for while i'm gone!

Seriously? Nobody from Canada has had to RMA an HD-PVR?

Ah, well I guess I'll find out tomorrow when I talk to the Hauppage support line.

I haven't had to RMA one, but I wouldn't expect there to be a problem other than you'll probably have to pay UPS fess to ship it back to the US and it's going to be slower than RMA'ing one within the US (I'd assume). Probably going to cost you $30-$40 and you'll probably be without your unit for 2-3 weeks.

I am in the process now of RMA'ing my two C2 units - Hauppauge is 'selling' me two new ones and I will have 30 days to 'return' my two units.
Following threads by several SageTVer's I put my units and stb's on a timed powerbar - it shuts off one hour every morning - it seemed to help with constant lockups but I still have times when the hd-pvrs will 'lock-up' with a black screen and i have to powercyle the unit and stb to get it back running.
I am hoping that the newer revisions will correct my problems - when these things work they are awesome.
Now - I am also hoping that Canada Customs and stupid carrier brokerage fees do not come into the picture - because it is a warranty replacement Hauppauge seems to think it won't.
The units have been purchased and are shipping from Hauppauge NY as we speak - wish me luck!

well i finally got ahold of hauppage today.

rediculous. no 1-800 number, sitting on hold they offer a call back service after 10 minutes of holding. 6 hours later no call back

I call them back and skip the leave a message bit and continue to wait on hold. The second time i'm prompted to leave a message I get ahold of one of their Sales Associates. I explain the situation and he tells me he's getting someone on the line and then dumps me back into the queue. Very frustrating.

I finally get ahold of someone and they were very helpful. I filled out the form and made the arrangements for cross-shipping a unit, i'm hoping i get it in time, but i'm not terribly optimistic about it.

For the record I had an E1 unit and it died on me, so I can't really have alot of faith that the newer revisions are any better than the older ones. Hopefully the QA on the refurbished units they send out on RMA is a higher standard than their inital production line. Certainly not looking forward to the 40+ minute long distance phone bill...

I had to RMA a D1 unit due to constant lock-ups every 2-3 days. The power button also did not work.

I did the whole buy a new one and ship back the old one in 30 days thing. I can report it is likely that you will have to pay UPS brokerage of ~$50 -- I certainly did. I even called UPS and complained that the Hauppauge shipping docs clearly marked the product as a warranty replacement. No love from UPS.

The sad part is the D2 unit they sent me is still locking up... almost every day now. I'm wondering if it's actually a refurbished D1 unit... To be safe, I would suggest that you request they send you the latest unit, which last I heard was E1.

God I hate being an early adopter some times...

Oh, and I didn't bother with a phone call and used email. The email support was fantastic.

Stand the unit up on it's right side... less lockups...

I had to RMA a C1 unit a long ago, and then just gave up completely on them all together after the RMA unti failed, my family can not have this type failures constantly, it feels like I was beta testing still. You know, you asked yourself if every time I turned a channel on " if this is going to work?" and that's what I had not signed for, when I purchased this unit.

Perhaps they should just make a better product, instead of rushing things to market with software and hardware issues. This product has to be the biggest mistake I've seen them make in along time.

its a shame because they make really great pci/pci-e cards.
