Is it really worth.....

Recording the OTA Broadcast networks .... I mean they cancel shows every month.???

The only real good Shows are on Cable stations... any way at least most of them get concluded.

Yeah me too

Well I deleted quite a few favorites and recordings.

In a way I am kind of glad I recorded canceled shows at least I did not waste time watching them I usually wait a while to watch them.

We record tons of stuff, but regularly don't even begin watching until the show has ended. I'll sometimes go looking for cancelled shows which are still being talked about and then I start watching them. Breaking Bad is one example of that, as was Copper and Defying Gravity (online descriptions of this one's premise are severely lacking). But, big stuff, like Game of Thrones, you can't avoid spoilers, so you have to keep up. Admittedly, there are many shows we've deleted without ever watching.

By the way, anyone who enjoyed Men In Tights should have been watching Galavant. I'm glad they got a second season, but it's not a show that could pull the huge ratings the networks demand. It probably would've done well on Netflix.

I'm actually glad they cancelled Castle because I think it would've died big time without Stana.

Not to mention that sometime during the last season or two, it had pretty much jumped the shark...

Only comment I'd make about the site is that it seems to consider any series that wraps production to be "canceled."

Good resource otherwise.

Agreed...where else were they going to find a N.Y. police captain who could do hair-flips like her?

I can get six PBS sub channels off the air while on cable I can only get one. A lot of the local programs and repeats of local interest shows and older classic PBS programs are only on the World and Ready TV sub channels which are not carried on Cable. And what about PBS Kids which isn't on cable either.

Heh, I feel like this forum has this exact thread every summer when people find out that a show they liked got cancelled.

I don't get emotionally attached to any TV show enough that it really bothers me that much when they are cancelled. Heck, whenever I like a non-animated show on Fox I certainly know not to get into it - Fox has cancelled more great shows than probably the three other major networks combined.

More like they should have "canceled" the executives who canceled it.

There is a reason I record the first season of a show then monitor whether or not it got renewed. Tired of liking a show only to see it go.

I feel like I've said this before...

I don't really have a problem with one-season shows. Frankly the bigger "problem" is the shows they just run to death, well past their healthy lifespan (CSI anyone).

It only bothers me when they actually cancel something, ie cut it off mid story.

I'd rather have lots of good, one-season shows that tons of cookie-cutter, run-to-death, going through the motions fluff.

Ditto! The above are still the reasons I generally don't watch new shows (GoT excluded). Once they're cancelled, I know what to expect (when they ended, how well they ended, etc) and whether they're worth my time.

Just in case no one gets the reference, this was regarding an Indiegogo pitch for the Con-Man series:

Definitely still TOO SOON to talk about it. Fox has a horrendous record of cancelling promising Sci-Fi shows.

Not just Sci-Fi. Pretty much anything not animated gets a year.

When I posted this same comment up the thread, I was wondering how long it would take for someone to mention Firefly... I love that it was the very next post.

Criminal Minds has become that. Very cookie cutter plots. Even the new spin-off Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders uses the exact plot template.

Funny. Criminal Minds is the first show that came to mind when this discussion got rolling.
