I would remove v9 from the mix... keep it simple.
It sounds like you have a v7 license so install v7 in a clean location, copy in your v7 wiz.bin (not v9), and go from there. k

Done and done!
So I ended up starting over
Reformatted the C drive Loaded windows 7 Pro, then some updates Loaded SP1 Loaded Windows Security Essentials Loaded Java 8 build 73 Loaded SageTV 7.23 Ran through the settings and it all seems to work. Tested out DVDs, BluRays, recorded tv and home movies with success. I'll map over the music tonight, I didn't want to waste time with that (it takes too long to can the 10K+ songs). The remote...turns out that the IR receiver had fallen out of the window in front of the computer (it's dark glass and I couldn't see it). So it was a hardware issue in the truest sense of the word. The only thing left to do is to put the interface back to version 6 (STV3 or whatever it's called) which is what my wife likes. Truthfully, so do I. It's so much simpler than the default one that comes with V7 (and V9). The 3x3 grid for videos is so much nicer than the list format. It also seems to take more button presses to get where you want to go. Thanks for everyone's help. Oh, and I will definitely be making an image back up tonight. Then need to figure out a way to do a nightly backup of wiz.bin
