So I know we've got a lot of networking experts here, I've got one "problem" and maybe a question.
First I've got a really odd problem. I have a Windows 7 VM running on my unRAID server (KVM) that is my SageTV server. This works great, everything works fine if I use it as a SageTV server. The recording drive is a physical drive passed through to the VM raw (not part of the unRAID array).
The problem occurs only if I try to transfer large amounts of data,
quickly from (or to? not sure I've tried that), specifically if I try to copy a recording from the VM, or something else like run handbrake.
If I do that, the whole unRAID server disappears from the network. The first couple times it happened I though it locked up/crashed, but I later discovered it was basically booted off the network (it was happily running). A bit of research (random Googling) found me at the sonos forums:

Apparently some switches have trouble with bridges, which, as I understand it, is how KVM handles guest network interfaces. I found that I can "fix" the situation but just plugging my unRAID server into a different port on the switch.
It appeared my original switch didn't supports STP, so I replaced it with this, which does:

However I still have the problem. Is it my router that's the problem (AC68P), maybe?

Or am I barking up the wrong tree here with STP...
The other question is with all these IOT things coming out, I'd like to have those devices that need to see the internet, but have no business seeing my LAN on their own network (like Guest Wifi, but not all are Wifi, and those that are need a good connection). Anyone messed with VLANs for segregating IOT devices?
