EPG not working after migration
Ok, I just migrated my server from one Win7 machine to another Win7 machine. Everything appears to be working fine from the install. This was over the weekend. EPG was populated just fine (carried over with the Wiz.bin perhaps?). We noticed late on Monday that all of the EPG data was missing. I'm looking at it now and I have 2 or 3 shows that are in there, but otherwise it's still empty. The server is reporting the last EPG update was yesterday at 5:40pm.
Any idea what's going on? I'm still running the same version of SageTV 7.x, and I've applied the correct key for the EPG data. I'd rather not blow away the tuners, but I can do that if I need to. I'm only using a single older 2 tuner HDHR for OTA.

Ok, despite the log saying it pulled it yesterday, I just tried changing the zip code per another topic and it is saying it can't find the SageTV Server. Any ideas? I don't need to open up anything special on my firewall, right? I never have before.

Now it's finding the list of local markets from the zip code, but I'm still only receiving a few items in the EPG. I didn't change anything, so I'm not sure why it is now making it to the next step.

I'm having some server issues myself and trying to get the EPG to find the list of local markets has been pretty sketchy. Sometimes stopping and starting the service helps.
As far as the missing channels maybe bad timing? I just noticed I have a bunch of "No data" listings in the past. For instance ESPN has no data from 7PM Thursday to 7PM Friday with a lone listing of Baseball Tonight at midnight. For whatever reason is seems like things straightened up around 7-8 tonight as far as the listings. |

Who needs EPG, not me
My EPG guide is empty after years of faithful service. I tried to reconfigure the video source and it keeps saying it can't find sagetv epg server.
I tried a few things, cursed, and gave up. I stream everything now, only use SageTV to record and time shift football. Easiest thing for antenna folks is just set up the video source with no EPG. Tune in to FOX, CBS, NBC for a few seconds Saturday and Sunday morning and you will get a day or two of schedule info for that channel. The TV station delivers the schedule data over the airways through the antenna. It records fine with correct title and info. Good enough for me. Thanks! Garrett |

Garrett, I appreciate that, and we've been doing something similar. The problem is that we have a number of shows in the recording schedule that aren't being recorded now. Somehow I need to get this fixed.

Just checked it again. It's updating daily at about 6:30pm. Says it updated fine last night. It's still showing only a handful of shows. I'm thinking about completely removing the sources and starting over.

Server 1 (Time Warner): I just did a quick search for "no data" in the epg and it returned 1 program over the next 5 days that have no data.
Server 2 (Charter): I just did a quick search for "no data" in the epg and it returned 7 programs over the next 5 days that have no data. This isn't a complete show stopper, but something is not quite right. Server 1 and Server 2 both share a problem with TBS on Friday Dec 18th with time slot 1:02am-1:30am, so hard to tell where that issue originates. Server 1 is, however, able to fetch data for the other 6 program slots that Server 2 is missing, which presents some strange issue. |

KryptoNyte, thanks very much for that link! I had no idea there was an open source SageTV 9. I have been using version 7 and prior since forever.
I am a newbee here, only because SageTV 7 has worked so well with no problems. But version 7 is now running rough with no maintenance. I always thought Sage was a dead end killed by the buyout. I'll have to set up a test box with the new version, and possibly contribute to the open source SageTv 9 movement. Thanks again, I had no idea, I'm a little slow sometimes. Garrett |

Garrett, I personally stick with SageTV7. As a paid, licensed user, there really isn't a need for me to head for the open source version 9 ... yet. What I was pointing to was Pete's last post in that thread, where his source EPG name changed, and he needed to use the newer EPG lineup to get his channels.
When there is any kind of digital transition and a new EPG lineup emerges, it is frequently released under a (slightly) different EPG name requiring you to point SageTV to the newer lineup. I don't know if this is the case, but it sounds familiar based on other user's experiences mentioned in this thread. |

I deleted the sources and recreated them. Worked right away. Something from the migration must have gotten mixed up.
