Sage taking 50 minutes to load.. Question
Hi All,
I'm on OS9, but I don't thing it's OS9 related. Very recently Sage started taking 50 minutes to load. Long Story Short, the fix was to set in the sage.properties file "limited_carny_init=true" (found fix searching forums). Setting this value to true fixed the delay in starting, but I don't use intelligent recording. So I'm now curious why this is suddenly an issue after many years. I'd like to be sure it isn't part of a more serious issue that needs my attention. Any ideas what might be causing this (corrupted files/Drive/etc...)? Thank You, Bobby

It still uses IR (or should) however it takes that 50 minutes, or maybe longer, for IR to be ready since you've told Sage to start before that's done.
As for the sudden increase in time, have you made any changes to your system? New import directories, etc? |

Thank you for the response. No new directories. In fact I temporarily changed my import & TV directories to folders containing a single video in each and scanned/restarted a couple times to be sure it took. That was still 50 minutes to load. Then did a drive integrity check. Same outcome. I don't recall making any changes, but it's obvious something has changed.
To what degree does sage still use IR? Will my scheduled favorites still record 5 minutes after the server has started up? Bobby

Yeah, favorites and manual recordings are available right away, it's just the IR recordings that it has to finish the profiler before scheduling.

You could have a hard drive that is failing. I recently just cam across as this issue and it was due to my recording HD going bad.

How big is your Wiz.bin? An overly large or corrupted one could cause a slow startup. Mine is at 50 MB and it takes about 15 minutes for SageTV to start on my old 4 core 3.2 GHz Athlon.
