new storage drives 2tb and up - MBR or GPT?
For a SageTV server running Windows 7, 32 bit, does anyone have any recommendations from experience on whether to initialize a new storage drive as MBR or GPT?
Me thinks GPT as it's newer, but since SageTV 7 is a little older, any thoughts?

I have Win7/32 with SageTV 7 on my server and have used GPT on all my 3tb and over drives since it became an option. No issues.

I'll put a 2nd in on the GPT's, have been using GPT formatted drives on Sage for several years now, haven't had any issues so far.
Sage doesn't (and shouldn't) care, so long as the host file system is able to read and write to the drives in a timely manner. Only real complaint is the flat directory structure that Sage wants to use for the recordings directory can become rather overwhelming for Windows should you find yourself with a single recording directory hosting 3+ Terrabytes worth of recordings and try to find your way in there using the windows file browser. Make sure you optimize that directory for video recordings, otherwise it will hit the point that it can crash the file browser, if it doesn't just otherwise stall out for a couple minutes. My SageTV system has (5) 4TB drives in it, all using GPT, and no issues that I am aware of. Would love to upgrade to a UEFI based MoBo so I can also boot one of those 4TB drives in GPT mode, but haven't wanted to shell out the $$$. So, I'll stick with my little ole AMD Phenom X6 1055T.

I think, as long as you don't boot from it, and W7 or higher can handle GPT.
I did find a M$ page about what supports what.
