Anyone have experience running Blue Iris alongside with SageTV on same machine?

Since I am in the process of building a new server soon. I have security camera around my house and using a NVR to capture recording but I am wanting to use Blue Iris which is a security NVR software made for windows and install it on same server with SageTV.

I wondered if anyone here have experience running Blue Iris on same machine with SageTV? Will you share some experience here with me? Just wondering if it worth the extra money and get a bigger CPU to run two things on one same machine which would eliminate NVR saving electricity.

I've been running SageTV and BlueIris on the same server for a few years now without any trouble.

BlueIris uses about 10% CPU constantly recording 24/7 from 3 Foscam cameras to a separate dedicated hard drive.

Server spec is in my sig, but it dates from 2011 when I last rebuilt it, so I'd expect any modern CPU should be fine.

I've been running BlueIris with 3 HD cameras for several years alongside Sage with no noticeable impact.

Same here. Running BI and SageTV concurrently with no issues. Server specs are in my signature.

I have dedicated drives for TV recordings but I couldn't say if it would be a problem to share a drive or not.

I noticed two of you are using i5 then it should be no problem with an i7 to run both side by side since it what I am thinking to go with.

I already have high-end HD Security cameras but all recording are saved onboard storage. I am planning to replace it all with a HD Security camera that does not have onboard storage but better exposure at night time than the ones I have now however need to find a source to store all the recording and it was either go with NVR or Blue Iris.

Blue Iris seem popular and well supported and now that SageTV is open source perhaps someone here someday can link those two together like switching over to a front door camera instantly when someone is at the door in SageTV etc.

Hi folks - I am considering getting Blue Iris and I am wondering if there is a way to feed the video from a single or multi-cam view from Blue Iris into SageTV so that you could select a channel on Sage Client to check? What about using OpenDCT to feed the stream?
