Weather
I'm not sure if the weather data feed is Sage specific or Gemstone specific, but is there a way to link to this specific Personal Weather Station?

Hi. Are any of the Gemstone developers around anymore?

I'm pretty sure the Gemstone includes weather feeds separate from the native feed. I'm not at home, but I think I remember seeing a couple options in Gemstone for weather sources, whereas I don't think you have any options in Sage.
It's been awfully quiet from the Gemstone developers for a while. I hope we'll see Gemstone ported to the open source platform. |

So far, it's been the other way around, Reggie. I was able to get the stock STV to grab weather from any weather station, but I can't seem to figure out how to get Gemstone to do the same. It's probably there and I'm just missing it.

I never touched the weather parts of gemstone (don't actually ever look at the weather on my tv), but I may be able to take a look and at least determine if this is possible with some manual editing.

It's not a big deal, Fuzzy. I never used to look at the weather much in Sage either, but with it right there on the homescreen in Gemstone, it's kinda handy.

Of course....time permitting As for weather sources....all the weather API are built into the Phoenix core so I would have to experiment and review what the options are out of the box for a custom source or if the Phoenix Core would need a change to handle. k |

I have been sending my data to wunderground for 15 years and would love to see my data in gemstone. You wouldn't believe the difference in my reading compared to weather data for my area which is acquired from the airport in a city 20 miles away. How's that for accuracy! This is why I would like my data to show in gemstone. The city officials in my city have said they use my data because it is more accurate.
I have even tried to get sage to perform somewhat like gemstone because stock sagetv will display my data, but haven't been able to do it because WAF factor drops like a stone.

How do you do it in Sage then?
This might help me in determining how to adjust Gemstone k |

In Sage, after choosing the ZIP code, it presents a list of available weather sources in and around that ZIP code, and you scroll/pick one of those. If one registers their own weather station with weatherunderground, it shows up in that list (usually).

Okay, so I did some playing with this today. Gemstone simply passes the 'Location' setting as entered to the WUnderground API. Reading through the API, the way to get a specific personal weather station to be returned is to enter the location as pws:[STATIONID]. For my local station in Indian Hills, Riverside, CA, which is called KCARIVER32, if I enter the location in gemstone as:
pws:KCARIVER32 it pulls the correct station. entering yours as pws:KWIMUKWO7 pulls info from Mukwonago, WI, which I'm guessing is what you are looking for? In short, what gemstone is doing, is passing whatever you enter to the wunderground api, and just using the first result that comes back (if one comes back). if wunderground doesn't return a definitive location, that appears to be unhandled in gemstone at this time.

For further information, and some examples of different ways to enter 'location', see this page in the wunderground api documentation (at the bottom). What you need to enter into sage is what sits between /q/ and .json.

fuzzy, I just did what you suggested and it does show my weather call sign (KMELEWIS5) but gemstone , or wunderground isn't updating because the data that's showing is wrong. I clicked to force an update and nothing happens and the line that shows when it was last updated is blank.
EDIT: I just reread your post and ebtered "pws:KMELEWIS5" and it works...THANKS Fuzzy!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Now this has nothing to do with gemstone and weather, but I thought I would mention that if anyone has a Davis Vantage or Vantage pro and the rain tipping bucket isn't working properly, it's probably the reed switch (a common problem) although mine lasted 15 yrs. I ordered one from davis online for $11.00. I got an email back from Davis saying they just shipped me 2 of them and would not be charging me for them. I received them and installed one and it now works fine again, I have a spare and they did not charge me for them.

Hey Jusjoken, if you're in the mood sometime and could add an animated radar image like in the default ui , it wouldn't hurt my feelings too much.

Thanks for the advice on how to set up a pws as your weather source. I just bought an Ambient Weather station that I have hooked up to Wunderground.
By they way, how does this work without a Wunderground API key? I thought that you need a key to access json data?

The phoenix core has a Wunderground API key.

Does anyone pay for it? The free service is limited to 500 calls per day, isn't it?
