The Weather Channel eliminating free weather data feed
Just a heads up as Phoenix appears to use data from The Weather Channel.
http://twcweather.com/twc40/wmws/TWC...971/w26988.php The cheapest subscription appears to be $63/mo! I'd like to congratulate The Weather Channel on their swift and decisive move towards complete irrelevance on the web. * moved to the SageTV Software forum section * Last edited by iolaus; 10-14-2011 at 02:32 AM. |

Phoenix uses the SageTV apis for weather... so as long as SageTV has some negotiated terms with the Weather channel, then we'll have weather for as long as SageTV has negotiated... And if they haven't... we'll have to figure something out.

We are aware of the weather.com change and are looking into an alternative. Unfortunately, I can't promise that there will be a replacement by the time the weather.com data feed ends. I'll provide an update about it when I know more.

FYI, check with Dean over at CQC. Same issue, perhaps there's some form of mutual solution.

I've been looking into free weather feeds for worldwide locations... if anyone has any pointers towards a good source, it would be appreciated.

I didn't dig too deep but this has a free api for personal and commercial use. And also a premium feed.

Could we include local radar in the Sage weather information and or include the ability for user to check a option to show local radar?
Thanks Scat

Perhaps a plugin? This worked great in its day..
Weather Report Suite Best of all, you could customize it, and it even had animation. |

I'm still looking into alternatives. I may not be able to get weather switched by the end of this month when weather.com shuts off their feed, but we still want to update it to something else at some point. - Andy
