OK... try again, please. After yesterday's fix, the system seems to have decided to take a vacation later in the day. Not sure why that happened, so please post if it happens again.

Currently, the EPG server is working fine, but is quite busy with all the systems trying to update at the same time, so you might see a timeout on some systems. You can expect it to be quite busy for the next day or so while things get caught up.

A few gaps showed up yesterday or the day before that weren't there previously, but I see they are all resolved at this point and I have 100% EPG data through June 15th 6pm CST.

Thank you.

I keep getting notifications about this. Also since I just redid my whole setup recently - it gave me fits trying to get epg data at all. Had to try several times but eventually worked.

I too have FINALLY started to get "no data" gaps showing up in both tuners. AND, my Sage install has started stalling, and recordings aren't firing....hmmm

As of this moment, right after an EPG update, the first "no data" appears on June 19th, 7pm, which is typically correct.

I seem to recall someone mentioning something about there being (2) EPG update servers at one time, so it did make sense that some folks were seeing issues while others weren't - not sure if that's still true.

That's kind of the reason I asked if these recent problems were something that donations could help stabilize. I think the server is currently sitting in some hosting farm in Florida, I'm not sure there is a backup for it.

My other question, which I doubt we can get an answer to, is: what happens to the EPG info when SageTV becomes open source? Buried someplace in that code is the info about how to access zap2it and their info, I doubt they want the entire planet hitting their servers for free once the info is available.

I've been using SageTV for 11+ years now, hell, I'm still on v4 simply because it works on the machine I have and has been reliable all that time. What worries me about the future is that there isn't a replacement for SageTV that does what it does, as well as it does, as automatically as it does. All the companies that have pushed their TV appliances out, they've never equaled what we had a decade ago. Certainly none of them could arrive out of the box with commercial removal included, look what happened to the last couple of companies that tried that.

Media Whine: "Skipping our commercials violates our copyright!"

Yeah, right ...

So if I can kick in a few $ and keep SageTV viable, it's more than worth it.

This has been asked and speculated on many times in multiple threads.
Jeff has answered some other questions about open source Sage, but not this one, which leads me to believe that it is a thorny topic that is not fully settled yet.

My expectation is that the existing closed-source version of Sage will continue to work and get free EPG data for a very long time to come (even long after the open source version of Sage is released). However, there is a fairly good chance that the open source version will have the free EPG stripped out. We probably won't know for sure until they release the open source version. If the EPG is stripped out, there are alternative EPG sources that are already available and work with Sage (though most are not free).

no data on both my tuners today - US and CDN sources. Slowly coming back...

EDIT: I can't get a Canadian postal code to work under "setup - setup video sources" US zipcodes produce correct suppliers.
Canadian postal code produces the "you can't connect to SageTV servers" error, AND, I have NO DATA for all my Canadian supplier channels (Shaw)

My schedule is showing "No Data" again on some channels for the 12th and 13th. It seems to be ok after that.

After the 13th I didn't have any more issues until today. This afternoon at 4:41 pm I got the " Channel Lineup Lost from EPG Server" message again!

I, too, have the same error message. I still have an EPG, however... I think. At least, I can see today's lineup and (because I am using the TV screen) through Sunday the 28th.

This was noticed & fixed earlier, so it should be fine again by now.
