My OTA zipcode error is fixed. I just cleared the values for the two properties in the EPG section per the FAQ.

I did notice though even after that, it would error the first update time or two, then it would be successful on the next try.

Even though I'm Windows based, I use the UNUX utilities for Windows and monitor my Sage log files from my desktop PC in real time using the tail -f command. I can watch the messages flow in real time in conjunction with a web based forced update.

For those curious, I have the UNIX_Utils in my path environment variable, them from a batch file I execute

tail -f \\masterserver\sagetv\sagetv\sagetv_0.txt

Where masterserver is the machine name of the Sage box and SAGETV is the share name for the sage directory on the sage server.

It says uk.co.mdjcox.epgplugin.EpgPlugin which I removed and restarted, but it came back. I don't know which plugin that is relevant to, I didn't think I had any epg plugins. I'll try uninstalling some and testing.

That would do it. I'm not sure, but I think it was something like the web feed encoder?

Thanks again for the notice about that. I'm told that it will probably be taken offline for a while tomorrow so it can be more thoroughly checked. That shouldn't be happening over & over like this.

Don't know... maybe too many bad TV shows finally contaminated the database?

Last night I noticed this (yellow) notification message date 6/1 10:10AM:

The EPG seemed to be unaffected so I put off until now to investigate further. A System check shows the EPG was updated an hour ago and it is fully populated (well, as normal) through midnight of the 13th.

Should I be concerned? Is this even related to the subject matter?

OK, the EPG database has been rebuilt, the EPG server is back online, and it should work fine again.

I don't know if anyone might have gaps in the guide date, but if so, here's the standard solution: The gap it can be repaired by following the instructions in the first Q of this FAQ post. And, if there are no gaps, you don't need to do that.

Are we sure everything is working OK again? If I force an update via the web interface or restart the service, I get:

Am I missing something else to reset? The last error I had that showed up on the notifications in the Sage interface said something like the Directv lineup was missing from the server. I'm assuming because the database was taken down at that time?

I uninstalled basically every plugin. Now it thinks about it a bit longer and then returns an error message. "There was a problem connecting to the sagetv server. Please be sure your internet connection is established and that you have entered the correct zip/postal code"

I've dropped my firewall again to test this, but still no luck. Another thread I found from 2006 suggested a problem with the EPG server. Since there have been some ongoing issues, should I just try again periodically?

I agree, the FAQ steps are not effective for me either. The old tricks are not working. None of my sources are updating, just like Evil_Attorney above.

I'm seeing same....EPG update in 0 minutes...all night long..
after doing the above resets. I have about 75% of the channels data.

have ALL the channels but 25% have no data..

restarted the service twice after doing the FAQ procedures.
(and verified my connection was up and stable)

EPG/Tuner problems

I'm using the latest SageDCT along with DCR2650 tuners.
I can't get past the zip code part of the EPG download; "There was an error connecting to the SageTV Server", etc.
I even swapped out my system drive and rebuilt everything from scratch, thinking there may have been some crap hiding somewhere.
Funny thing is, I had success with this 2 days ago on another system.
