USB firmware update for HD300

Ok, what the hell am I missing? I put the stp300 (.bin and .ver) on the root directory. I plug in the usb stick into the hd300, then go to system update. Nothing! It allows me to check for a new version, but no where do I see anything that tells it to update from the usb stick. I look in the manual, it just tells me it can update using usb, but doesn't tell me the steps. I look on this forum, and could not find anywhere that tells me how to use the usb stick. What am I missing? Also, I used the 2382 code to update to the latest beta firmware. Now my show progress is not saved. is there a post that gives this basic information?

Check out page 11 of the HD300 setup guide for instructions on how to reload the firmware from a USB drive.
