urgent; HD300 hung during firmware update!!!
I was in the process of going back from the beta firmware to the released firmware. The update appears to be hung at a bad point. The screen shows:
THE FIRMWARE IS BEING UPDATED DO NOT TURN OFF THE DEVICE IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY REBOOT WHEN DONE IT has been at this point for over 30 minutes which I know is not normal. Does anyone know what my options are? I can't find any solution in the manual. What is the worst case if I disconnect power? Messages like this should not be given without a solution for a hang!

The manual describes how to do a factory reset to un-brick your device.
Also see the extender FAQ for similar info.

Thank you. The HD300 was not bricked, I just needed to kill power to regain control. However, after two more attempts fo go back to the original firmware. I was forced to use the service mode to update and firmware and worked. I am now were I wanted to be. Thanmk you for the quick response.

I have two HD300 units with the last beta firmware on them. When I tried to update to the new beta, I ran into the same problem as the OP. The solution was to "update" to the latest non-beta software first (which is actually pretty old - from back in 2010), and then update to the new beta. This was the only way I could get the new beta to load properly.

I just ran into the same issue as you. I have had no problems updating my HD300 since I've owned it and the only thing that changed recently (in the configuration) was a change from DHCP to a static IP address. After trying three times to update the firmware (twice to the latest beta and once to the 11-2010 official firmware) with the same result, I decided to try setting the IP back to DHCP. Well whaddayaknow...it WORKED! I'm not sure what your network configuration looks like, but this resolved it for me. |
