HD300 won't update to latest Beta firmware

I tried updating my HD300's firmware yesterday to the latest Beta (20110217, or something like that). When I tried, it said it was going to do some work, then I got the spinning arrow, and nothing ever happened after that. I left it spinning for a couple of hours, and no activity. Is there another way to upgrade the firmware on these boxes, or should I just try again? Are the weekends not a good time to try to do maintenance upgrades on SageTV (eg, sagetv servers down, etc, etc)?

I got mine to update yesterday by setting the HD300 into debug mode, and then trying to do the update. That seemed to work. You can find instructions on setting the HD300 into debug mode from the following post:http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/show...671#post375671. My hope was that using debug mode would slow down some process timings enough to allow whatever race condition to resolve nicely and allow it to work. It did in my situation. YMMV.

mine got stuck updating from the previous beta firmware ..

Hello,

My HD300 was running the previous beta firmware and when I tried to update to this beta firmware my HD 300 got stuck on the "Do not turn the player off page" and after 30 minutes I downloaded the manual and checked the forums.

Pulled the plug on the HD300 for 30 seconds and plugged it back in pressing the back button on the remote
waited and then selected Factory Reset from the Internet but it gave me an error ... (wireless adapter) ...
plugged a gigabit cable into the router and the HD300 ... another download error ...
prepared a USB key with the current beta firmware (stp300.ver and stp300.bin) and tried a Factory Reset from USB which worked quickly and beautifully returning me in moments to a fully working SageTV extender.

(and then realizing the 24 digit mixed character wireless access password I have on my router was going to be frustrating ...)

A little bit of a glitch ... lucky I have SageTV Client running on my main PC to distract me while reloading the firmware ;-)

Bobby

ps - read the manuals and FAQs before attempting any of this if in need of a recovery and if I missed any steps / skipped anything / or ... err on the side of what the FAQ's and Manuals say ...

Latest beta firmware update hangs

I've been successfully updating the beta firmware on my HD300 until now. This latest beta hangs at the ominous "Don't turn off the device screen..." for quite a long time (+30 minutes.) Only solution s to unplug the power cord. I have made two fruitless attempts to update. Is this a bug in the beta?
