SageTV Video Playback freezes when using SageTV MPEG Video Decoder
Hi -
I have a problem with my Win7x64 PC when playing recordings in SageTV. I currently have the MPEG2 Video Decoder set to "SageTV MPEG Video Decoder" because that is the only way I have found to get Closed Captioning to display. If I set the MPEG2 Video Decoder to "Default" or "Microsoft DTV-DVD Video Decoder", Closed Captions don't display. Unfortunately, when I use the SageTV MPEG Video Decoder, the video will freeze frequently when the playback is FF/REV to a different point. This happens quite a bit because I use the Commercial Skip plug-in. How do I get the SageTV video playback to operate properly? My PC is pretty powerful, so I know it isn't a hardware limitation. I could go either way:

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like it will work with my system (which has an Nvidia GTX-770 GPU). When I play a video through SageTV, all I see is a black screen. AzJazz

Hi, FriscoJohn - I looked a little closer at what happened. It appears that the ATI MPEG Video Encoder, got installed by the DirectShow Filter Manager, but not the ATI MPEG Video Decoder.
I got a more recent version of atimpenc.dll (Version 13.x), and registered that using the DSFM. Now, I am able to see the AMD MPEG Video Decoder (the name changed), and SageTV played the videos with better CC support - The SageTV MPEG Video Decoder always dropped CC characters during the playback. That said ... Unfortunately, I'm still skrewed. The AMD MPEG Video Decoder is showing the exact same major problem I see with the SageTV MPEG Video Decoder: If I do a FF/REW or minimize the playback window, the video playback freezes. Any other ideas?

Might want to try NVIDIA PureVideo Decoder v1.02.233. It helped CC playback on my 8 year old hardware.

I am using VMR9 and NVIDIA Video Decoder. Not using anything special or plugins.
