QIP7100 channel change fail
Have used many tips from this board and thought I would share a solution I encountered.
Verizon FIOS sent an update to my Motorola QIP-7100 stb which resulted in all firewire channel changing to stop. Checking the Windows Device Manager, I could see the AV/C Panel driver was no longer setup. Attempted unsuccessfully to reinstall the firestb firewire drivers using the helpful posts from this site. But no path seemed to work. Error message always came back with something to the effect of the setup file had no information for my hardware Using the Channel /v to manually change the channel (which did not work) I saw that the formerly Motorola was now appearing as Arris. With that information, I made a copy of the firestb setup information file and named it arrisstb. Then I opened the arrissstb file and performed a global replace of 'Motorola' with Arris'. Using this new arrisstb driver setup file, the AV/C panel driver was now allowed to install. And best of all.... firewire channel changing is working again. Hope this helps someone as much as all of you have helped me. |

Thank you!
I tried multiple edits within that file but could not get it to work. Using a global replace did work. My firewire channel changing is working again. |

Rdelfs,
Wow, what a HUGE first post! I can't thank you enough. I have been racking my brain about what could possibly have changed since my boxes had been working for literally years and then suddenly stopped. I located firestb.inf did a global find and replace MOTOROLA for ARRIS. Then I right clicked the unrecognized ARRIS boxes in device manager, selected reinstall drivers, chose look for drivers on my computer, browsed to the folder with the modified .inf file and selected it. Computer installed drivers and now I am back up and running! Again, thanks so much. |
