Sagetv not recording specified time

Hey guys, I've been having problems with Sage not recording a show during the specific air time in the episode guide when the airing time has changed from the original time when the favorite was created.

Example, a show recorded from 10pm to 11pm but the episode guide info says that the show time shifted to 10:15 to 11:15. So I ended up with starting the recording 15 minutes too soon and ended 15 minutes too short.

Perhaps another symptom is that I have been unable to add an extra 15 minutes to a one hour recording when I specify to do so in the favorite. Any ideas??

Check your favories and see if you have specified a time (i.e. 10:00 to 11:00), if so then it will only recording at that time frame. Same thing with adding extra time.

Perhaps the EPG data changed after the recording was created. If future airings are shifted by the same amount, check the schedule to see how the future airings are being handled. And, do you have more than 1 Favorite for the show? Usually, when you can't change an option for a Favorite, that means there is already one with the setting you are trying to use & there can not be two of the same Favorites.

No, setting a time limit means that some part of the show has to air during the limited time period. It does not mean that the recording will occur only during that time; the entire show would still be recorded.

I had this happen twice in the past couple weeks. One of the times was when POTUS chat took up scheduled time (I forget what caused the other one but it was an identical situation) and the Station simply moved the start time by about 15 minutes. SageTV started and stopped the recording at the original EPG settings cutting off the first 15 minutes and the last in the other.

This had never happened before (under similar situations) but I did at the time (mentally) blame the Station and not SageTV. Maybe I should rethink that.

This situation happens occasionally - it all depends on when schedule changes get picked up by Zap2It and when Sage sees them. In your POTUS example above, this was not scheduled very far in advance, so Sage didn't get the schedule change until the next day (at least for me) - too late for it to adjust the recording times.

Which is why (SWAG) I didn't blame SageTV. I am, however, glad to have my suspicions confirmed.

Thanks guys for the help.

Perhaps you're right, maybe the guide data changed after the recording. This makes the most sense. I think this may have been a one time shifted schedule and maybe Sage didn't have enough notice. I don't have any set times on my favorites, they are always set to any time.

My second question though involves The Good Wife which is always delayed due to football. Sage frequently missed the recording last year so I added and extra half hour to the stop time on the favorite to capture an extra half hour but this never seems to work. IIRC, the final recording shows a green bar where the first hour was scheduled and a red bar for the extra time(that wasn't recorded). Why would Sage not just continue recording an extra half hour after the originally scheduled time?

The season premier of the Good Wife begins this Sunday, is there any way to see if Sage has scheduled the extra half hour?

As expected, the Good Wife recording was only an hour in length despite setting the stop time for "30 minutes later". Any ideas why I'm not able to pad the ending with an extra 30 minutes?

Is it possible that you have another favorite scheduled to record after The Good Wife on the same channel (I think Madam Secretary is on in that time slot on CBS right now)? If you do and you also have the option to "remove padding on back to back favorites" set, it will ignore the padding request.

If you ran out of tuners and there were shows of higher priority than the Good Wife on during the padding period, I'm not sure but Sage might stop and switch to the other shows.

Other than that, I can't think of anything that should cause it to ignore the padding request.
