Problem transferring client license to new PC

I'm trying to move my client license from my old XP PC to my new Win 8.1.

I uninstalled Sage Client from the XP PC, installed it on the new one and entered the registration key on the new PC during Sage start-up. It gives me the message "Key is valid and has been stored".

But every time that I start the client, it still gives me the 21 day trial message.

I've restarted and re-booted the Sage Server many times and re-entered the registration key on the client many times with variations of my user name, but I can't seem to get rid of the 21 day trial message...and time is running out.

Two support requests to Sage support have gone unanswered.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know if this is your problem or not but generally when I find that license information is not being saved it is related to the enhanced security/UAC in newer versions of Windows. If so there are two things you can try. With some programs if you right click on the program file and select "run as administrator" when you launch the program and then enter the registration/license information, the information is saved in the correct spot and you can run the program regularly from then on. Otherwise, the way I run SageTV on my Windows 8.1 machine is to install it in a separate directory off the root directory instead of in the c:\program files directory. This eliminates UAC for the SageTV program, allowing the operating system to write things to the expected location.

Thanks for your insight!!!

Using your "run as administrator" suggestion, I just about split my chapped lips from a huge smile after seeing Sage launch without the 21 day warning.

This was not my first battle with UAC...and probably not my last.

Thanks again!
