*.properties directory files

I have just started running Gemstone. What is the *.properties file created along with the recording file and how do I disable its creation?

The properties is created when Phoenix core scrapes for metadata and fanart.. so I would not delete them.

More correctly, it happens when any plugin updates custom metadata fields in SageTV (It just so happens that Phoenix does this). But phoenix doesn't create them, sagetv does, and as you noted, I would not delete them. (SageTV uses them as a metadata backup source, and if you delete them, then you'll start noticing that some of the files will suddenly lose metadata)
