Files in video directory
I have a 100GB drive for SageTV recordings and SageTV loves to fill it up with stuff I dont record. I have intell. recording off. So is this stuff in there junk from stuff that is watched during the day and Sage will clean it up to make room for my favorites?

Dont worry, it will delete them. This is one of the few "features" of Sage that I think is user un-friendly. This feature catches almost every new user (myself included) I really wish that the system would treat them as true temp files, make them invisisble, and exclude them from the op-system recognition.
While it is true that these files will automatically delete to free up space for your favorites, you could easily have you HD completely filled with these files, then if you try to say....copy a DVD or some MP3's the system thinks you have no room. I am also certain it could cause cache problems and speed disk fragmentation. Its just a less than optimal implementation of a feature that is a must for PVR systems - recording of whatever you are watching so you can rewind or stop live tv. I'm pretty certain this will be improved in the future - considering the number of complaints about it. mike/ |

Yes, I tend to do that myself, just because I dont want to look at them.
