Video playback error on some recordings

Hi all,

I have a Sage7 XP machine and an HDHR Prime. Most of my recordings record and playback just fine, but every once in a while I get a recording that none of my HD200's or the server itself can playback. On the HD200's the box will hang and I have to power cycle (or I'm not patient enough to let it recover).

On the server I see the show in the recording list, when I highlight it I get the description and a thumbnail from the video, but when I try to play it I get a black screen with the spinning circle for a minute or so. When I finally get a response the error is:

There was a playback error in playback. Details : sage.PlaybackException: ERROR (-4,0x80004005):There was a problem rendering the video
portion of the content for playback.

Once I click on OK I can right-click and get a menu to stop playback.

I can open the mpg file in VLC and it plays fine so from that perspective the file seems ok.

Anyone know what I can do to troubleshoot this? Since it happens sporadically I can't reliably recreate it. I did save one of the "bad" recordings to use as testing.

Might want to check if it is a channel that has a copy once flag setting. The prime will not record if the flag is copy once.

I haven't quite figured it out, as I have the same issue. I did discover that if I convert the recordings to MKVs, they do play in sagetv.
