Audio sync issues with latest Colossus drivers?
Just bringing my new server online and it's up and running and recording and all that fun stuff, but I'm seeing possible audio sync issues with my Colossus cards on Win7 x64. I installed the latest drivers on the Hauppauge site. I know for a fact I was using very old drivers on my old WinXP x86 server (probably the original drivers, quite honestly b/c I never had much problems with the cards).
Just wondering what everyone else is using?

What date were they. I had my Colossus running about 2 months ago from the then "current" drivers, and had zero issues.

Driver says: 1.8.31093.0
Might have been the channel I was recording from earlier to test things. A couple more favs have recorded since and they seem ok. Guess I'll keep an eye on it for a day or two and see what happens. So excited to have the new server online.

Now I'm learning just how customized I had things and how much work I have left. Just things I setup years ago and take for granted (comskip, SJQ and all the helper scripts I had running, BMT, etc, etc.); things I haven't touch in years. I'm along ways from done. When I get that done, then I'll start on the vm stuff. For me, the vms I'll be running on this box are to consolidate various physical boxes that don't warrant their existence anymore. Some linux boxes I use for mucking around/coding, etc. Another one I use as my ftp/mail/ssh/http server -- low traffic stuff but stuff I like to have available. Another WinXP box I used for Sage dev for code that didn't require specific tuner setup for testing, etc. The only "dev" box I plan on keep around, but will be powered off when not in use will be my Sage dev box with the dual tuner config setup for things that need that kind of setup. Running this stuff from a vm just makes sense, especially since this box I built is way, way more horsepower than I need for Sage (see the updated sig). The electricity saving were part of the sell job on why I just had to have a new box; instead of 5 systems running in the basement (4 of them 24x7), now there's only 1 and the Sage dev box, which will only be powered on if/when needed).

I'm curious to hear how you come out on that audio sync issue after a couple STB and computer reboots. I have my STB's locked down at 1080i feeding an HD-PVR (optical 5.1 channel audio) and I am constantly fixing the audio stream location on the video to the tune of about 30ms to 110ms (the audio leads the video).
I tried locking the STB in at 720p, but that was even worse. Do you have to do the daily reboot on those Colossus cards, Slugger? Maybe you're not that far in on this system to know yet ... |

Just to conclude this thread, 2 weeks & dozens and dozens of recordings later (on both Colossus cards in the system) and there doesn't seem to be any issue with the drivers. Guess the random recording I did on the first day was just a bad channel. I haven't noticed any problems since.
Latest drivers on Win7 x64 is what I installed and have been using happily.

Are you still rebooting the machine daily to keep the Colossus in line? I would really like to drop one of these in my system, but have always been put off by the reboot issue. It always seems like a crapshoot.

I don't reboot the system, but I do restart the Sage service nightly. Pretty full proof, I have a script that ensures there's no recordings active, none scheduled in the immediate future, and no one connected to the server before it does the service restart.
