Is my HD-300 slowly dieing?

I've had two Hd300's in continual operation for a number of years and recently have noticed increasing frequency in lock ups. Thinking maybe a heat issue, I installed a fan on one of them and it really did seem to improve performance. Then today I have trouble getting through one 720p teenage mutany ninja turtles episode without a lockup..

I'm using version 7 of sage if that makes any difference.

What experience are other long time users of HD300's experiencing? Anyone found anything evenly remotely comparable to sage? I feel like I'm keeping a vintage sports car on the road--great when its working but increasingly unreliable with no more support...

I have found that after about a month, I have to unplug the device for a minute or two, then plug it back in.

I only get lockups playing music. Especially if they are .flac

I'm thinking the same thing. One of ny 300's is starting to die. It's running very hot, locking up for no reason, when finished playing a video I need to unplug it to watch another one. It's just doing some very strange things. I'm thinking of installing a computer fan under it.

But without anything from sage I'm not sure I am going to buy another extender, but I'm going to build a mini computer and run sage client.

I would guess it's likely the power supply. The power supply is generally the first thing to malfunction with electronics and it can cause those kinds of issues. I've had to replace the one in my HD100.

I thought of that and swapped power supplies with my other hd300. Same result. I swapped hd300's and the problem moved with the unit.
I'm not holding out hope for the longevity of my Sage server. Looking into mini pc clients, possibly even switching to XMBC as I'm getting more issues with new codec playback.
