Any chance gemstone adds native upnp

Now that its supported in phoenix?

I would say that is very likely....once they do all the heavy lifting to get it working well then I just need time to replicate the UI side of it into Gemstone.

Not sure how soon though.

What would upnp be used for?

Clients - 2xHD-300, 8xHD-200 Extenders, Client+2xPlaceshifter and a WHS which acts as a backup Sage server

The current UPnP browsing plugin works fine for me in gemstone.

It would expose media server (UPnP enabled servers, like Play-ON) to the core views... which is what the current PlayOn plugin does (I think), then only difference is that Phoenix now has native upnp support so that you can create VFS views around UPnP media.... it's a work in progress, and I do recommend that Gemstone not implement it, until we can work out most of the kinks

The flip side of the UPnP support in phoenix, is that I was also working on making a SageTV server into a UPnP server, so that media files could be exposed to other media clients (ps3, xbmc, mobile devices, etc) using UPnP. (work in progress)
