Question SageTV V7 with dual Rogers inputs and HVR 2250

Hi Folks:

I am in the unenviable position of having Rogers carve out even more of my Analog channels in the next few days and trying to solve how to set up my SageTV with digital boxes:

Hardware I have ... Hauppage WinTV HVR-2250 (dual Tuner). What I am trying to determine is:

i) How to set up SageTV to use channel 3 for one tuner and Channel 4 for the other tuner for separate Rogers boxes (either STD Digital terminal or NextBox HD terminals)
ii) How to set up SageTV to then change channels on the Rogers STD Terminals or NetBox HD terminals ;

iii) Is it possible to combine the two coax signals from either two STD HD terminals or NetbBox HD terminals to a single Coax feed, or should I just use RCA inputs to the Auxillary A/V panel of the HVR-2250 for one of the feeds?

iv) and just for confirmation, presumably the HVR-2250 cannot record HD from any of these inputs as the Rogers boxes don't put HD out over the coax or RCA options, but only HDMI connections from these boxes or component connections.

Any information or assistance would be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance to anyone who can help educate me in all of this!

Best regards, Dave Melnyk

Rogers STD and Rogers Netbox HD

HI,

I am in the rogers area (GTA) and since three years I am trying everyday to improve the SAGE PVR to as much comparable to HD box connected to TV.
I had built my PC (superpowerful Quad processor, Win7, 8 Gb RAM) with HAUPPAUGE 2250 Kit ( two cards in one product)

For my rogers 4250HD I bought since day 1 Hauppauge PVR 1212. Through the
Unfortunately the 2250 will only bring at best the S_video signal. If you have one only HD box, everyone in your family will require that to be connected to the TV. And it makes totally sense. Everyone, including ourselves, enjoy live events more than taped ones). That's the battle I lost

Unfortunately the 2250 can not bring you digital signal, just analogue. The S-Video was good until the HD programming invaded our lives. Unless something critical I can not see during the day, I can barely watch the S_video recordings in Sagetv. That's why I got a second HD box from rogers. (Netbox HD). I will connect this to Hauppauge PVR 1212 and will be my first priority on SAGETV sources. I will use the standard STD ( I do have 2 STB from building management, that's why I permit myself multiple sources) for STD channels or simultaneous recordings when 2 events are at the same time (like soccer games around 3PM, etc) and keep my favorite source for HD channels to record movies.

I have spent some money on my SAGETV system, but as you have a HD box from Rogers, SAGETV becomes the free PVR nothing lower than the Rogers PVR, especially considering space on hard drives.

Buy a used Hauppauge HD PVR (1212) you would find it used for around 100Cad.It comes with a blaster that will save you the hassle of channel changeind ( I do have the USB-UIRT which is the most compatible product for channel changing in SAGETV, cost about 50$ direct pruchase from reseller in California)

Because you have another box, STD, assign the 2250 only to this box. Configure the source in SAGETV in a favorite STD channel that will not need any channel change. Configure the source to have only that channel and other sources not to have the same.

The second 2250 card I am using it for the wired alarm camera. It records in the hours I ask to and days I ask to.

Doing so you achieve almost full usage capacity of your SageTv, your computer video cards and your Rogers programming which , I am sure, you pay with real money

Please feel free to ask by email heshti@yahoo.com. Exchanging experience is advantageous for everyone
