2250 Dual IR Blaster configuration??
I have installed a new Hauppauge 2250 in my sgae server and was curious how to get the two individual IR Blasters to be recoognized within Sage, or if this functionality can be added if it is not there today???
I read some posts which drew to the conclusion that these blasters do not actually send different signals, but are basically in parallel sending the same data to both and that the Happauge software did not support seperate functionality. This however does not appear to be the case and it conflict with the Happauge documentation, the Blastcfg software and some testing I did. Using the current version Blastcfg application which shows two IR ports ( 1 & 2 ) I sent data to the blasters and verified that when port two is selected the Tuner Box controlled by port one does not change. Though the red LEDs on both blaster light with each bit of data sent, the devices seem to be controlled automatically. So, is it possible to have this funcitionality added if it is not in the Sage software today, and if it is, how do we acces it to configure the server to use both IR Blasters??? |

The Hauppauge IR software is limited to supporting only 1 Hauppauge IR device in a system. (Receiver or blaster) Multiple IR are not supported by Hauppauge. It's not a SageTV issue nor can they work around it. This has been this way for years and Hauppauge will not do anything to change it.

Thanks for the response. I have posted a note to Hauppauge on the subject referencing your comment and will pass whatever response I get back from them here so you are aware. Their site specifically states that this dual blaster configuration works with Windows Media Center, and my somewhat basic tests seem to imply this dual functionality is possible under windows 7 in General, but we'll wait and see what they come back with.
This siad, if they made any change to support the dual mode (which I might assume they will not) would it then require a change on your part to SageTV to enable that second blaster functionality??? Thanks! |
