Colossus with sage

Hi... Just asking a quick question because the colossus thread has 1900 replies...

One of my hdpvr units died. Am I going to be ok using colossus? Is it supported natively with the last version of sage? Will it support the hdmi input for audio and video?

Lastly, I am running windows 2008 R2 for the sage server. The normal windows 7 drivers for the original hdpvr work just fine, so I assume the win 7 drivers for colossus will work, too.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

That should tell you something right there.

Mixed bag for me. You can see the problem I'm having if you read the Stumbled on a great solution for using Colossus HDMI input? thread near the end (my HDMI channels are not copy freely). I'm having some weird issue with HDMI input when not with component / optical (other than some interference).

My first card was bad (no signal in sage, slideshow video with no audio in Showbiz). Replacing that card with a new one and no other change started allowing video capture (with the above issues).

I have two Colossus running on a i5 z77\setup with Windows8 and they have been perfect for about 4 months.

I had them for about a year before the latest build with different results. I am not sure if it was the machines they were in, new drivers or Windows8 but the card work great now.

I am not using the HDMI because I am not sure when DirecTV may start blocking channels and I don't want to miss any recordings. I really can't see the difference in quality.

The Colossus recording quality is a slight improvement over my HD-PVRs.

The HDPVR power supplies are not reliable in the long run. I replaced one already when my HDPVR died. That fixed the problem. I ordered a couple spare power supplies so I will have one on hand the next time the power supply goes bad. Maybe it would be better to replace the power supply with a higher quality power supply. If you search around the forum, you'll find that HDPVR power supply problems are pretty common.
