Colossus, Sage 7.15 locking up at program guide change

When the top and bottom of the clock arrive, and there is a program change in the guide on the channel being viewed (I'm watching my server), Sage usually locks up, begins to stutter (video only) and then mostly just stays in black.
Once again, this only happens when there is a program change on the current guide channel.
I know, Sage isn't supporting Colossus at this time. . . . just wondering who else is having this crash.

What do you mean Sage isn't supporting Colossus? That was one of the primary reasons for the new beta cycle.

If you have reproducible issues with Colossus, they should be submitted to Sage as a bug.

Well no-it doesn't support it officially. The support is only in beta. Official support would be in the production version of Sage which is 7.0.23. It's a work in progress. This is the same thing that we went thru when the HD-PVR first came out. At first no DD 5.1, issues between analog and SPDIF, locking the STB for a specific resolution, instability, etc. Were you really expecting something different? Set your expectations accordingly. They're both from the same company with drivers written by the same engineers. And just like the HD-PVR some people have no or very few issues.

Changes of note in V7.1

-Support for Hauppauge Colossus
If you're using 7.1.5, and report a bug in Colossus support via the Beta bug report form, it seems awfully peculiar that they would respond by telling you it's not supported.

On the other hand it's quite possible they might tell you that the bug you're reporting isn't their bug and that they can't do anything about it until Hauppauge fixes their drivers. But that's not the same as saying Colossus isn't supported.

I thought I had deleted this response from a Sage rep, but I found it in trash: "We don't yet officially support the Colossus".

So, I guess that's as close as I can reckon there's no official support.
I realize that Hauppauge has a dicey past with regards to support on some products, however, my PVR-150 was rock-solid. Two of them, actually.

It's too bad that Sage doesn't produce their own capture hardware, as that would eliminate the "he said - she said" factor.
Until then, we can only hope someone is working to make these two products work more reliably together. What other HD capture hardware product is there for Sage? I can't think of one.

As it stands now, no one in my household trusts Sage / Hauppauge anymore, and if they want something recorded in HD without error they use the Tivo or the Shaw Direct box.
One day maybe that will change. Fingers crossed

Thanks, I did submit some logs with specific notation with a rock-solid repeatable error that happens every time I test it.

Sage said it was Hauppauge's fault - Hauppauge hasn't responded.
I spent a little time, not a lot, but some nonetheless, acting as a software detective for both companies. So far, I have no resolution. I don't expect a 24-hour result, but at least the feeling that both companies are working to rectify problems would make me feel better.

I, like everyone else here, have prepaid for both products as if they were functional to begin with. They are not, at least not in concert with each other. It's likely a Hauppauge error. What's frustrating is that for some people it works, for others it doesn't. That's not good enough
