Upgrading to Java 7 SageTV
I see more and more problems being posted about upgrading to Java 7 on SageTV server and SageTVClients as more websites are starting to require Java 7.
Here is how it should be done to avoid missing DLL's and other hassles. shutdown Sagetv Shutowdown any programs that use Java ... If Using SJQ3 make sure to shutdown the client. Uninstall all Java versions Install the The Microsoft Visual C++ Install Java 7 32 bit Start sage If all is well you can then Install the 64 bit The Microsoft Visual C++ and java 7 64 bit if you want to but do not uninstall the 32 bit versions.

java
I hate to bring this up here, I feel like a dunce.
With some people having problems with Java installs, I check my version and found out I am running ver. 1.0.6 update 5. Installed in 2008. I have never updated Java that I can remember. There is an older version on this H-P Quad 1.0.4, I believe. I have run fairly smooth in Sage 6, but recently having some lockups. I don't think Java is causing them but I was just checking.(four tuners onto one drive is probably the culprit) Is there any reason to update (benefit to SAGE)? |

I am not going to tell another user what they should do and not do as far as upgrading ... every setup is different and equipment is different. Al my PC's laptops etc.. are upgraded to Windows 8 and running Java 7. I do not use extenders I prefer clients and have several slim pc clients.

java
thanks NYP,
My other issue is the "Client" on the server computer locks up every time I try to watch, check video on it. My 2 100s and 1 300 are OK. This stared about 6 months ago. Would I be right in stating that somehow my CODEC has been switched. How do I find which CODEC am I using. Thanks again |
